Northern Las Camp, on a small island that was a bit seperated from the other islands in the sea, no more then 500 meters in radius, Zane stepped out of his cabin to the morning sunlight, a cup of coffee in his hands. Looking around to see no boats in sight, only the beautiful sunrise. This was the Zane island, you see. Zane had found it a while ago: a flat, glassy island with a cabin on it. In addition, it had a large warehouse used for storage that Zane himself built on the island. He wasn't sure how the cabin got there, but it was uninhabited, so Zane took it for himself. It was a nice little place, he liked it.
Not only did it serve as Zane's home, but it also served as his headquarters, as in, this is where he built ships to be sold to different clients. As Zane stepped down the cabin porch, he took another sip of his coffee contained in his favorite green mug, before letting out an "ahh". Today... it was the perfect day to build a ship. Not too hot, but not too cold. Not too windy, not too humid... it was just perfect. Zane couldn't ask for a better day. So, he got to it. No playing games here, he was gonna build a cool kid ship.
First were the blueprints. Zane would set out some on his table, getting the paper from his toolbox. Also taking a pen from it, he would begin to give it a name. "Duke of the West" was what he decided, as he found it rather nice. He'd then begin to draw the concept art of the ship. It would be a lighter one, with a smaller deck, however it would be moving at a slightly greater speed thanks to it's weight. Upon finishing the concept art of the boat, Zane would begin to head to his warehouse to get the things that he needed to start on the building of his ship.
Zane slid the door to his warehouse open, as many supplies would be found. Lots of wood... a lot of wood. He had no metal at the moment, so he would just make this ship out of wood. Taking a ship curve (which is a curved piece of wood which is usually the base for making a ship) he'd go out and set it on the island. Making this alone was gonna be some hard work... but he was sure he would get through it. After all, he was the prodigy of shipwrights! At least, in his own eyes....
Zane would make regular trips to and back from the warehouse, carrying along wood with him. He would attach the pieces, which were thin and long, to the curve. He was starting with the base of the ship, making sure that he would establish it first. It took him, say, 2 hours to finish the base of the ship, and he got a few blisters on the way there, but eventually, he got the base down perfectly. Zane sighed, before deciding that he would take a quick little break to get a snack and rest for a second.
Zane had a granola bar and an apple, munching down on it for quite a while, enjoying having some food in his body. Once he was all done with his little pit stop, he would resume working on his ship. Now, what was the next thing he would do? First, he'd grab his ladder from the warehouse, and begin to work on the "roof" of the ship, which was really the deck. He'd start off by working from the sides, on the ladder, but after a while he would actually have to hop into the base in order to nail in the rest. Luckily he took out 1 panel of the base beforehand to act as the exit for himself. However, he actually had some more business with the inside of the ship. He needed to build the captain's quarters, crew's quarters, and storage space. So, he got right on that.
Getting some MORE wood from the warehouse, Zane was convinced he was gonna run out. He actually had to cut some this time in the warehouse, making trips there and back tedious, especially when he got the measurements for stuff wrong.
The first step was building the ladder up to the deck, which was pretty easy. Under the deck, one would enter the crew quarters, which Zane designed with an open concept, however it was still fairly tight due to the size of the ship. There were then two door in the back of the Crew's quarters: one for storage, the other being the captain's quarters. The storage was a bit larger, with the captain's quarters being a bit smaller in return.
Upon finishing the bases for that, Zane would decide to take another break. That took him a good 3 hours, and he would be even more hungry by now. Cooking himself a simple soup, he'd enjoy it as he planned his next move in his head. He really did love building ships: it was his passion, it was like a sport to him, ya know? He did it for the fun of it, not the profit, if you get what I'm trying to say here. Upon finishing his meal, Zane stretched, before trying his best to get back to this ship.
Man, this was Zane's first ship that could be considered "tier 2" and man was it rather hard to make. He was using up a lot of his resources in his warehouse as well, after this he would NEED to restock. It was also fairly tiring on his body, considering he had NOBODY to help him at all... once he had the money, he should hire some grunts. That would be a really, really good idea, now that he thought about it to himself. Anyways... he continued to build this ship. Man, this was really taking a toll on his body... well, at least he would be able to sleep well tonight.
Next, was the flooring in the interior. Zane would just use thing pieces of wood, but it did take a while due to the fact he had a hard time finding nails. Turned out they were tucked away at the back of the warehouse. He was using up a lot of these things, it looked like by the time he would be done and done with the ship he would be ALMOST out of nails, maybe like 7 or 8 left with him.
The flooring was almost complete: all that was left was the storage area. Here, Zane made sure to include a thicker floor, just in case the owner of this vessel would want to store something heavy. He couldn't help but wonder to himself in his thought about who would even be buying his vessel... well, as long as it wasn't the Government, he would be A-Okay with it. It seemed the Revolutionaries had rubbed off a bit on Zane. Well, they were nice people after all: and the only reason that Zane was able to meet his brother once again.
Zane would take the ladder up to the deck to do the work there. He would have to saw holes in the deck to make room for these smaller poles for the sails. So, with his saw in hand, he did just that. Sawing 2 holes in the ship, Zane felt a little bit tired by now. Scratch that, really tired. But, he knew he was almost done with building this thing, his finest work yet, so for now he would decide to just suck it up and continue on. He would still take meal and pee breaks, though: however, if his estimations were right, he'd be done by 3 AM.
Now, Zane was no crane or anything, so when it came to actually putting in these poles, he had the idea of doing it piece by piece, with each one being about 1 meter long. He'd attach them together as they went up. By this time, it was almost night, and Zane had had a nice dinner composing of chocolate: he wasn't the healthiest eater when he was busy building a ship, you know?
The first one came, then the other one came soon after. The ship was almost done: all Zane needed now was to put on those sails. Walking into the warehouse, Zane would grab some cloth. He recalled to himself how to attach sails, one of his favorite lessons that his mentor gave him. Come to think about it, Zane should visit him sometime. However, his mentor wasn't the focus right now. While it would be nice to seee the man, Zane had to make sure he had something grand to show him when he did. And this... this ship would be Zane's greatest accomplishment. He had used up almost all of his supplies just to make this: so Zane could only hope that when it actually began to sail, it would work.
Zane would attach the sails to the ship with a ladder he brought up with him, thanks to his Martial Arts expertise he was able to carry it with ease wherever he went. Yep, after this he was going to get some workers, no matter what the cost. It was 1 AM in the morning: and Zane just had a few things left to do.
First, he carved a ladder onto the side of the ship, allowing people to climb up. Next, he made a pull out plank feature to go along with it. So far, things were looking pretty good. Finally, he would use the only window he had, and added it to the captain's quarters. He really was going all out with building this motherfucker, and he hoped it would pay off. He almost wanted the thing to himself, but he was fine with his rowboat for now, not needing to go anywhere out of the west blue. One day he would visit somewhere else, but for now he didn't feel he was ready. Plus, the west was still full of adventures that Zane had yet to see. And once he was done with those, he would head to the North and see what was there.
Final Step, here we go... put this thing in the water. Zane would take it off the stand, well.. push it anyways. He realllllly hoped this worked... Zane took a while, but using his martial arts expertise, he managed to push the ship slowly into the water. Annd.... he heard a splash, covered his eyes, counted to 10, then turned around, looking to see what happened.
It floated. Zane couldn't be happier. Hopping on by flying up using his Zoan powers, creating wings of arms, Zane would take the wheel. The ship moved at a decent 20 knots per second, not bad at all. The feel felt nice, and it seemed like Zane's predictions were correct: a shipwright could tell just by fell that this ship would hold about 20 or so people. This ship sailed pretty smooth, perhaps it was Zane's handiwork or just the waters in the area, he really couldn't tell over the intense joy that he was feeling at the moment of knowing that his greatest creation of all time worked. He was just so overjoyed.
Zane would take his ship to the trading company now, he was anxious about people stealing it now. In about an hour, Zane arrived, and dropped it off. Selling it to them, he got a good price for it, and walked away pretty proud of himself. He thought he did a pretty good job on that ship, and he would probably do even better on the ones that followed it. Or, at least he hoped he would. He was sure they'd be just fine, though. After all, he was Zane Xu, the prodigy shipwright! Zane would take a small rowboat back home.
