Wade happily snored as he slept in the barracks of Marine Base 17. No marines thought to look for him in the barracks, not even Marine Captain Lucius. Though he regularly did not put off his job, today was different. There was no activity today. Not in the slightest. Not even a simple thief was seen today. It was very rare to have a peaceful day like this, so Wade happily took advantage. He, of course, was wearing his stereotypical attire, white vest, black undershirt, black slacks, black shoes, and tophat (the tophat itself was covering his eyes). His cane sat the bed next to him, laying lifeless on the bed. There was a great risk to slacking off, however, especially under Captain Lucius. Lucius is known for doing ironic and bizarre punishments, more too strange to even name. Lucius himself is a rather strange man. He is about seven feet in height, and is rather chubby. He has a mustache and beard, both being blonde, and he tends to wear his Marine coat inside out. Many rumors float around him too, but Wade paid little attention to them. He was too tired to care at this point and let out a loud snore, followed by a clearing of the throat. Wade didn't stir again until a few good minutes later, where there was a small rumble he felt. The occult man simply turned to his side, cuddling his cane as if it were a teddy bear of some sort. He soon woke up, however, as the sound of several explosions were heard. Blinking and shaking his head to wake himself up, he quickly grabbed his cane and ran out the barracks, now in the halls of the base.
He ran down them, the sounds of combat growing more and more evident as he neared the front entrance of the compound. It was there he passed by two comrades. One had a gunshot wound on his left shoulder, with the blood staining his white uniform. The other man seemed to be treating it. Wade bent down on his knees in a vain attempt to be at their level before speaking. “What's happenin' out there?!?” He said with clear concern, eyeing the gunshot wound. The injured Marine looked up at the giant man, his face straining with pain as he spoke. “We're being invaded by pirates. Captain Lucius and the enemy captain are somewhere else fighting...” He said before letting out a hiss. The Marine treating him had just now used alcohol on the wound. Wade simply nodded at the young man and quickly made his way outside to the battleground. Base 17 was on a rather rocky island. There was a small town nearby, possibly five to six miles away, that came to the base for help. That being said, the area around Base 17 was almost nothing except flat, rocky ground, making it perfect for a medium-scale battle. Which is exactly what was happening. Men in white were firing muskets and pistols and sword fighting against dirty-looking scoundrels. His eyes narrowing and adrenaline pumping through his veins, Wade ran out, straight into the fray.
