Fishman Task Part 2:

Linedwell still found himself confused when it came to the topic of what exactly was going on in this Blue. Prior to any of this, he could only recall ever seeing a Fishman one time in this Blue, and even that had been a rare occurrence. But now, his Fishmen kills were beginning to rival the amount of humans he'd killed in his life. It was plainly obvious that there was something going on that they weren't privy to, and Linedwell hated not being informed when it came to matters such as these.

They'd attempted to make their way into the bar that Linedwell had in mind, only to be turned around as result of the happenings on the island. It seemed that people were currently being evacuated, and as such, the Kingdom as a whole felt almost completely empty. The only place Linedwell could think of to gain any sort of information on what was currently happening was to head in the direction of the Marine Base. Though this would have sounded completely idiotic any other time, with the amount of people being evacuated, it was highly unlikely that there were many Marines posted at the moment. If anything, they'd likely have some information when it came to what was occurring.

As Linedwell continued to walk forward, he could feel the ground shaking and this was followed by the sound of a few explosions in the distance. The area in which these explosions were coming from was the same direction in which the Marine base was located. With a sigh, Linedwell turned slightly before speaking.

"I guess the base isn't as empty as I thought it'd be..."

Sever was following Linedwell as they headed through Briss, walking briskly through the streets in his tall black suit. People all around them seemed to be rushing back towards the docks, and Sever gathered that there was an evacuation going on due to the fish men attack. He wasn't too concerned about the evacuation, although he did have to wonder whether they would be able to find a shipwright in the current situation. For all they knew, all of the capable ones in town might have already set off on their own ships once they'd realized their island was under attack. Sever could only hope that they'd still be able to find a shipwright, and that they'd be able to set sail before the island was attacked again. Linedwell had already expressed his desire to leave this island as soon as possible, and Sever couldn't help but agree with him at this point.

As the men were walking down the street, the ground beneath them began to shake suddenly and violently, causing many around them to lose their balance. Sever could hear explosions off in the distance in the direction of the Marine base that they were heading towards, and Sever couldn't help but think that there experiences with fish men were not yet over. He was really starting to think ill of the entire species as a whole, considering that the majority of them he had met were solely purposed in destroying whatever city he was trying to accomplish some business in. Linedwell made a comment on how the base wasn't as empty as he thought, and Sever could only imagine he was right. The evacuees were thrown into a panic by the sudden explosions, and rather than a hurried march people were now breaking into frightened sprints towards the docks. After only a few moments, Sever and his crew mates were the only ones on the street, at least for a moment. Soon after, a group of marines and what looked to be random civilians approached them from the direction of the docks. The marine in front was holding looked over to them, rifle in hand and called out. "Hey, we heard you fellas are the ones who took out those fish men earlier. They're attacking our base now, and we desperately need back up. Do you think you could help us out?" He asked sincerely, likely assuming the three of them to be honest folk. Sever spoke up first out of instinct, still not used to being someone else's subordinate just yet. "That depends on what you're willing to pay for our services. I assure you, they're not cheap." Sever replied, thinking only of what kind of money he might be able to squeeze out of these folks. Even if they didn't end up helping in the end, it was possible he could get some sort of advanced payment from the fools before abandoning them.

Isaac felt sorry for the inhabitants of Briss Kingdom. After just being saved from an attack from a bunch of Fishman, they were now all being evacuated from their homeland. I mean, they were extremely hostile towards foreigners, so Isaac shouldn't really care that much, but if all the inhabitants were evacuated, their chances of finding a Shipwright, and a decent one at that, were getting slimmer with every passing moment. As such, the trio of Linedwell, Isaac and Sever began making their way towards the Marine base, as it seemed to be the most inhabited place, however due to the evacuation most of the Marines would probably be out of the base. Which was when everyone heard the explosions, the Marine base was under attack. Considering how the rest of the week had been going, Isaac could have bet his life that the attackers were going to be Fishmen, which was annoying, as Isaac was starting to lose track on the amount of Fishmen he had killed up to that point, and it was really starting to bug him how many people he had killed in general, not just for counting. Isaac wasn't a maniac, he didn't kill unless necessary, and he was starting to get really annoyed at how many necessities had been made so far.

It was then that a group of Marines and what looked like soldiers, not affiliated with the Marines and certainly not as well trained, ran up to the group requesting aid in the fight against the Fishmen and the retaking of the Marine Outpost that had just been the cause of the explosions. Linedwell and Isaac said nothing, but for Sever? This was exactly his kind of thing, as he attempted to extort money out of the already desperate Marines. As much as Isaac didn't necessarily agree with his methods, he said nothing to counteract it, and so watched as the Marines and rebels handed over everything they had to the trio. After this, Isaac just looked at them all once and spoke, "Good, now stay out of the way unless you want to die." And with that, began to walk towards the outpost.

As Linedwell heard the pitter patter of what sounded like footsteps growing louder behind them, his right hand instinctively fell on Treachery's hilt. However, the grip of his hilt was lessened once the Marines and random civilians began to explain their situation to the group. The information they were given, though not much, was enough to let Linedwell know that his crew's status as pirates hadn't been revealed yet and right now they were merely known for taking out that earlier group of Fishmen. This was good information to have, because it also meant they didn't exactly have to rush off of this island as quickly as he initially thought they would and might have a bit more time to find the shipwright they were in need of. The other news wasn't good in the slightest though. It seemed the base they'd been traveling to had been overrun by another wave of Fishmen. Sure, it was good that this ragtag group had been able to warn Linedwell and the others of this impending danger before they got any closer to the base, but now the entire plan they had for gaining intel on the current happenings with the Fishmen was up in smoke - until Sever spoke up and demanded payment for helping with the Fishman threat.

Initially, Linedwell was content with merely saying no and heading back towards the docks, finding a shipwright, and simply leaving this place as soon as possible. Yet, the more he thought about it after what Sever said, the more he realized he'd skipped an opportunity, however slight, to make some profit. After all, he couldn't expect this shipwright to work for free, could he? Hopefully helping these upstanding gentlemen would allow Linedwell to earn back some of the funds he'd be spending on the construction of a vessel. Hell, while they were in the base they could even finish their initial goal of gaining some intel on the current situation.

Thirty minutes later, the trio found themselves in the jungle headed towards the Marine base that had been overrun. Linedwell found himself starting to regret the decision to go along with this plan. It was bad enough that Linedwell couldn't help the feeling of disgust from creeping over him every time he set foot in Briss Kingdom, but now he was walking through a hot, humid, filthy jungle IN Briss Kingdom. Sure, the pay they'd been given was good and all, but couldn't they have just taken the money and left anyway? They were pirates, after all.

Making sure not to spout these complaints out loud, Linedwell continued to grudgingly trek on with the rest of the group.

Sever grinned to himself as the group of men began reluctantly handing over all of their monetary wealth to the three of them. Certainly a nice starting investment for their crew, but still a bit less than what Sever had hoped, the three men pocketed the cash and Sever listened as Isaac told all of the men to stay back if they wanted to live. The men looked tentative to stay behind when they felt they should be fighting, but the severity of Isaac's words, and their knowledge of the three men's capabilities likely held their tongues for them. Sever wondered if it might have been better to have them come along and serve as distractions or sacrifices, but he supposed that he wouldn't object to what Isaac had said.

Soon afterwards, the three men found themselves trudging through the thick jungle of the Briss Kingdom, heading towards the Marine Base located on the south side of the island. As they continued marching through the humid and hot area, Sever thought about bringing up that they could just return to looking for a ship wright now that they had received payment, but he rescinded that perhaps there would be more reward once they'd completed their task, so he kept his mouth shut. Of course, there was also the possibility that after they'd taken out the fish men threat on this island, the Marines would recognize them as the same group from the attack nearly a week ago, and they might fall under pursuit and be unable to find a shipwright altogether. Sever decided to ignore that possibility for now, and only cross that bridge if he had to come with it.

As the men drew closer to the base, Sever realized that he could no longer hear sounds of explosions or battle, instead there were only sounds of raucous celebration. Sever realized that the fish men must have taken over the base already and had eliminated all resistance. He wondered if perhaps they would be so taken with their revelry that they'd forget to post a guard on look out, as that would make their job that much easier. His question was answered in quite the unique way however, as before he saw it, he heard a large projectile hurtling through the jungle towards them. "Move out of the way!" Sever cried out in a panic, somewhat uncharacteristic of him. He then made a ninety degree turn and made a sprint as far as he could before the projectile hit. As he heard it getting closer, he leaped away to safety, scuffling up his clothes in the dirt and vegetation of the jungle as he heard an explosion behind him. He hadn't been hurt, but the shock wave and sound had left him somewhat rattled. He got to his knees and turned around to survey the damage, staying as low to the ground as possible so as not to alert the attackers to his continued breathing. It seemed that explosive rounds were being fired at them, and that the fish men had certainly put up a watch despite their celebrations. He couldn't see Linedwell or Isaac through the smoke, and he hoped that they had noticed early enough as he had.

With the money handed to them from the Marines and the self-proclaimed militia of Briss Kingdom, Isaac, Linedwell and Sever had started their journey to the Marine Base. Due to the positioning of the base, the only way to safely ensure they could get there would be to go through a forest on the route, as the other would leave them open to too many attacks and they wopuld be spotted from miles away. At least with the forest they had a chance to get there safely, even if the forest had more avenues for ambushes, but Isaac doubted the Fishmen expected anyone to come and try and take the base back in a small group, let alone three people. The fishmen, given their reputation, would no doubt expect a small army to come if the Marines were serious, and that advantage gave Isaac, Linedwell and Sever enough traction to make it to the forest, just outside of the base itself. Along the way, Isaac thought about his actions in telling the Marines to stay back along with the militia. It was clear by their faces as he said it that they had not just come to ask the pirates to do it for them, if they even knew they were a pirate crew. Isaac doubted they did considering how open and honest they were, there was no sign of reluctance. except when they allowed Isaac and co to simply leave them behind. If they had come with the group, they would make them more easy to spot, and they wouldn't offer much in terms of combat ability. Heaven's Gear had dealt with these enemies before, they werealmost professional Fishmen hunters by this point, so it made more sense for them, and them alone, to go.

The forest itself wasn't that nice a place, being more than just trees and grass. It was muddy, murky, damp and generally just a grim place, full of darkness and gloom. The sun could just about peek its head through the treeline, but the Marine outpost: their target, was still in clear view, as Isaac kept his eyes on it for every step they took, just in case anything changed. He couldn't see details, but a shadow moving here or there, that he would see, and it was that which he did in fact see, as a shadow moved towards a larger shadow, and then an explosion went off, followed by a bigger shadow moving directly towards the group at an angle. Isaac had worked it all out, but Sever was the first to speak, warning the other two of the impending attack. The small shadow had been a Fishman, a look out. The second: a cannon and the big one moving towards them: a cannonball. However, when Isaac saw Sever run in one direction to avoid the explosion, and hoping Linedwell was doing the same, Isaac did not move, he simply continued on his way towards the base, turning into Smoke when the explosion went off so as to avoid the sharpnel, before continuing on his way towards the base, assuming he'd meet up with Linedwell and Sever along the way, if not at the base itself raising some hell.

While the trio continued their trek through the jungle, the Marine base was coming closer and closer into view. Linedwell wasn't exactly sure how many enemies they'd find in this base, but given the fact these Fishmen had taken it over he couldn't help but assume they'd be facing quite a bit in terms of enemy forces. The only real question now was how formidable they'd be. With the group making their way through the jungle, at least they'd have the element of surprise to back them when it came to this battle, and with the battle capabilities that Isaac and Sever had shown thus far, Linedwell wasn't the least concerned about their chances - if anything, he was concerned with how fast they'd be able to accomplish this task. If things dragged on for too long they'd likely lose their chance to find a shipwright in the middle of all of this confusion that gripped the island.

With this in mind, Linedwell stopped dead in his tracks; his eyes closing for a bit as he fell into a trance-like state. With speed being the emphasis being on speed, Linedwell knew he needed to make use of a state that allowed him to move at his fastest. His eyes opened at almost the same time that Sever made his exclamation to move out of the way. With his left foot pushing off of the ground, which luckily was dry in this patch of area, Linedwell began to dash towards the cannonball that had been fired at them. Once within range of the cannonball, Linedwell quickly unsheathed his blade and slashed in its direction. If Linedwell had little regard for Treachery's well-being, he would have attacked the iron ball head on. But since this wasn't the case, Linedwell decided to make use of a small vacuum of compressed air to do the dirty work for him. With the cannonball sliced in two and out of his way, Linedwell continued to make his run towards the fishman that had sent the attack their way. After closing the distance between the two of them, Linedwell lowered his position and lept forward before unsheathing his blade once more, slicing the legs off of his opponent before stabbing forward. The stab was able to pierce the falling fishman through the skull - killing him before he'd been able to scream out and alert the others that the attack had failed. Hopefully, the element of surprise would still be available to them.

While he had been looking in the smoke for Isaac and Linedwell, after he had gotten up Sever quickly realized that the two of them were already in front of the explosion. Isaac appeared as if he hadn't even noticed the explosion, and Linedwell was unscathed and already dashing towards the direction of the attack. All in all, the other two had made Sever feel rather ridiculous, but unable to do anything to redeem himself, he chose to just pretend that it had never happened. With the captain already having made the first charge, Sever figured he should go ahead and move in on the base himself. He wasn't as capable a fighter as Linedwell or Isaac, so he thought it would be better for him to go after high priority targets rather than attempting and likely failing to slaughter en masse as he assumed his crew mates would.

Sever was already on the outskirts of the jungle, and he came out several meters away from where the explosion had come from. He thought he could hear a group of people moving towards where the cannon had been fired, but he wasn't sure. Thinking of the cannon led him to wonder if perhaps the base had other cannons or heavy artillery. If it did, it would likely be highly beneficial for him to eliminate whoever was manning them and possibly take one over himself. If he could get a hold of one of the cannons, he might very well be able to keep up with Linedwell and Isaac in terms of kill count. Sever would never admit to caring about such a thing, but it did sting his pride a bit to think of himself as someone who couldn't carry his own weight. So, with a plan in mind and a base to retake, Sever moved stealthily and quietly while keeping low to the ground. He spotted a hole in the outer wall of the base as he made his way around, likely left in disrepair due to the lack of money coming in to the Briss Kingdom. It had given him the perfect chance to sneak in undetected though, and he assumed he would meet up with Linedwell and Isaac once they had all entered the base.

So, squeezing through the small hole in the wall, and peeking around to see if there were any fish men in the vicinity before crawling all the way through, Sever made his way into the base and prepared to fight. He assumed that if there were multiple cannons placed around the base, that they'd be placed at strategic intervals, so Sever started making his way to the part of the base that faced the sea. As he was making his way there, he came across two large fish men who seemed to be guarding another entrance to the base. Sever thought that there might be a cannon nearby that was intended to guard the entrance, so he figured now was as good a time as any to begin his initial plan of action. He unsheathed his blade as quietly as possible and crouched low to the ground so that he wouldn't be seen. Sever reasoned that as long as he was quiet about his approach he had nothing to fear, as the fish men would likely be focused on the front entrance rather than what was behind them. He was entirely corrected in this reasoning, and he was able to sneak up and pierce the back of the first fish man's hammer like skull, following it up with a flourish of his blade that ripped a piece of the shark fish man's brain out and left him dead nearly instantly. The other fish man realized what was happening, and went to swing the large sword he was carrying at Sever in a horizontal motion, one that likely would have cut the pale faced man in two; that was, if he hadn't performed the splits and dodged the blow entirely. The slice soared through the air above him, and after it had Sever thrust the Ruhig Dorn straight through the second hammer head's jaw and straight up through his palate into his brain as well. The deaths were near instant, and Sever quickly flicked the blood and brain matter from his blade and set to finding some artillery.

It hadn't really been necessary for Isaac to turn intagible with the explosion as he saw Linedwell dash towards the cannonball and slice it in twain, before continuing onwards through the air towards the base, landing on and killing the Fishman that had fired the shot in the first place, keeping the element of surprise available to the crew which meant the Fishmen would not doubt expect their first attack to have succeeded, which made things all the more fun for Isaac. Flying up to the where Linedwell was, Isaac descended the stairs to where the large dining room was. In it, he could see maybe around ten normal Fishmen, along with one larger eel fishman. There was no way for Isaac to enter the room and firing off a bullet without setting off an alarm or two, but instead he had a fun idea. He saw some of the Fishmen holding guns and rifles, while the eel fishman held a large cleaver, which gave him an idea. Walking into the middle of the room, for them all to see him for an instant beforehand, Isaac let out a smokescreen which covered the entire room, obscuring everyone's view, but they had all seen him. After this, he flew directly upwards, and let the madness ensue.

Having seen Isaac moments before the smoke, the Fishmen open fired throughoutthe room, aiming where Isaac had been. Due to this, they had forgotten about their comrades, and Isaac watched in awe as Fishman shot down Fishman, resulting in at least half of them falling to the ground dead. The others remaining: five normal Fishmen and the Eel, Isaac shot the five Fishmen using his pistol, ricocheting one of the bullets off the wall to kill two with one bullet, before turning his attention to the Eel Fishman, who he sent a fist at, knocking the wind out of the Fishman, avoiding any unwanted cries for help. Afterwards, Isaac jumped onto the Fishman, bringing him to the ground while closing his hands around the Fishman's neck, using the extra strength given to him by his Smoke to stop any resistance and, within moments, the struggling stopped, and the smoke disappated with Isaac on top of an Eel, surrounded by the bodies of ten other dead Fishmen. Isaac's hands had been slightly burned from the Eel's electric properties, resulting in him holstering his guns, as holding them had become extremely painful.

With one of the Fishmen dealt with, Linedwell felt that they'd be able to continue with their original goal of keeping their infiltration a stealthy one. It was highly likley that the Fishmen would simply assume that their sneak attack on Heaven's Gear succeeded and they'd continue moving about as if there wasn't a threat sill lurking in the jungles surrounding the Marine base. The only time they'd get nervous is when they all began to wonder where one of their commanders had went to and realized he hadn't returned from the jungle. This meant that if this plan was to still succeed, they'd need to move forward now.

The other two appeared to realize the situation almost immediately, as they moved forward without instruction. Linedwell trusted their decision making skills, as well as their capabilities, anf thus an order didn't need to be issued. From what he'd seen of these two he knew they'd be able to handle whatever they'd find in the base. Not wanting to fall behind too much, Linedwell darted off in the direction of the base as well. He'd seen Sever running around the base along the outskirts of the jungle, in which Linedwell could only assume he had another idea of getting into the base. Isaac on the other hand seemed to take a more direct approach and went down a flight of stairs. Linedwell, however, decided that if the others were going to be so focused on stealth, he might as well have fun while he still could. After making his way onto a high position, Linedwell lept down towards the area of the courtyard. With his blade unsheathed, he managed to land atop one of his enemies - killing him instantly while also bringing the attention of the rest of the Fishmen in his current area on him. With looks both shock and anger in their eyes, they began to draw their weapons and slowly ease towards Linedwell. Hopefully by drawing this many to himself, it would give the others enough of an opening to accomplish whatever it was they had planned.

Sever hadn't been wrong about their being a cannon in the area to defend the front gate, and he found one in an outcropping of wall a few meters from the gate. There were cannonballs and matches as well in the area, and he didn't see or hear any fish men around at the moment. Sever decided to take this opportunity to cause a little havoc of his own, and considering there were no enemies around to shoot, Sever would just have to settle for dealing collateral damage to their base. With no small amount of effort, Sever pulled the cannon out of its position at the wall, and instead turned it to the wall of the inside hallway. Then, whistling a pleasant tune to himself, he leaned over and grasped one of the heavy iron cannonballs that lay on the floor and placed it into the barrel of the cannon. From there, he grabbed a match and lit the fuse, watching the tiny sparks fly for a moment before taking a few steps away, turning around, and plugging his ears.

A moment later, Sever heard a muffled explosion and the sound of brick and mortar falling to the ground. He moved back over to the cannon and followed the barrel's direction to see several walls had been busted through by the impact and through the hole Sever could see several fish men looking through at him angrily. They began to charge at him, and in a rush Sever started to pull the cannon back into the hallway so he could prepare another round and blast them to bits. He realized as he was doing so however that he would never be able to load another cannonball before the fish men reached him, so he would have to relent to using the Ruhig Dorn. He had seen three more of the hammer headed fish men rushing towards him, and he hoped that no more of them were incoming, as he wasn't sure how many he could take on at once. He didn't think that three would be too unmanageable however, and he waited with his blade at the ready for the men to bust through at him. He could hear them breaking the walls down further as they went, a feat they were capable of due to the massive amount of strength their shark fish man ancestry allowed. That was fine for Sever though, because if they continued to bust through the holes he'd be aware of exactly where they were coming out at and he could pierce at least one of them before he even knew what had hit him. That was exactly how it went down as well, and after the first fish man had busted through the hole in the wall and turned to try and find Sever and the cannon, his gaze was met with a glint of cold steel and a blade went right through his eye and through to his brain. The man was killed instantly, and remained standing for a moment as Sever removed his blade. The other two fish men saw this and raised their weapons, ready to attack. One was wielding a hand axe and the other a large mace, and they both rushed Sever at the same time.

Not one to panic, Sever stepped out of the way of both attacks with a timely dodge and thrust his blade into the haft of the axe one fish man was holding, twisting the blade and sending the weapon clattering to the ground. Both fish men were in a rage at Sever for dodging their attacks and looking so calm about it, and both of them lunged at him once again, one of them now armed with only his fists. Sever continued to perform aptly however, as he was able to deflect the mace attack with his blade and send it flying into the face of the other fish man. Sever could hear bones cracking and teeth breaking, and the sounds caused him to wince a bit. That small moment of unawareness cost him however, as the fish man with the mace quickly swung it back around and hit Sever square in the left side. Sever could hear his own bones cracking now, and he knew that at least a couple of his ribs had been broken. He was thrown to the side by the impact, but was able to right himself and skid to a stop before he slammed into the opposite wall.

The fish man, still in a rage, rushed at Sever with his weapon raised high above his head. Sever was feeling quite light headed and he coughed up a bit of blood as he raised his blade and prepared to defend himself. He waited until just as the fish man was about to swing his mace down before lunging forward and to the right, feeling stinging pain in his side as he did so. From there, he manipulated the blade with his grip to be facing the fish man's meaty neck and hit the pommel of his sword with a quick palm strike. The blade grip slipped through his fingers and the blade shot forward and impaled the fish man's arteries, leaving him bleeding and mortally wounded. Sever fell to the ground and attempted to roll away as he saw the mace come down at the spot where he had just been. From there, the fish man fell to the ground dead and Sever returned to his feet. He was breathing very heavily and his muscles were exhausted after all the strain he'd just put on them. Despite his injuries and exhaustion however, he hadn't been satisfied with only firing one cannonball at this marine/fish man base, and he felt a few more were necessary before they made their leave.

Once Isaac had dealt with his foes on the ground floor of the outpost, most of them killing themselves for the most part, he decided his best course of action would be to move out and try and take out some more enemies. Considering the amount he had killed, keeping his existence a secret to the base was no long going to be an easy task. So he walked into a large open spacing in the outpost, perhaps a training ground, and looked towards the upper levels, spotting Sever fighting against some enemies. He took a bit of damage, Isaac being too slow this time to save him, but after that he dispatched his enemies without any issues, a feat befitting a man of the crew. Despite not having as high a body count at the end of the day as both Isaac and Linedwell, the Skypiean had to admit there was a certain finesse with Sever's fighting style that made it somewhat beautiful to watch, the way in which he utilised his blade and his acrobatic style of movement, it was a unique style that Isaac had never seen anything even remotely like.

However, Sever's presence gave Isaac and idea, as he saw his crewmate standing next to a cannon, a cannon which he could use to aim directly where Isaac was standing. Knowing this, he hoped Sever would be able to see Isaac from his position, and get on board with the plan he had in store. Otherwise this would become extremely awkward extremely fast, but putting his trust in a man he had only known for a short period of time, Isaac sucked in all the air he could and shouted, as loud as possible, "HEY, FISHMEN! COME OUT AND FIGHT ME UNLESS YOU'RE TOO SCARED OF ONE HUMAN!" Naturally, within a few minutes, Isaac was surrounded by around a dozen Fishmen, all seething with rage at his accusations of them being weak and spineless. One of them, a Hammerhead Shark Fishmen, even shouted back, a common phrase Isaac had heard for the past three encounters he had faced with Fishmen. "FEEL THE POWER OF THE FISHMEN!" Isaac just stared at him a while, and laughed. His entire plan was to aggravate them as much as possible, and it had most assuredly worked perfectly, as all twelve of the enemies rushed at Isaac with all the anger and power of a tidal wave, ironically enough. Now Isaac just had to wait for Sever, who he bloody well hoped had both heard him and worked out exactly what Isaac was wanting to happen, otherwise he'd have to apologise for his earlier words and hope they didn't rip him apart, which he wasn't wholly looking forward to.

The amount of Fishmen that came to deal with Linedwell's presence was a pitiful amount, to say the least. All the other Fishmen ran off once the boom of what sounded like a canon went off and destroyed much of the foundation of the base. Even though his pride did take a bit of a hit, he had to admit that a canon in these closed conditions was probably a larger threat that he could currently muster. He couldn't blame the large amount of Fishmen for leaving like they did, but he could certainly make sure they regretted it.

Looking around, Linedwell was able to count that two Fishmen seemed to stay back in order to deal with him. Were they instructed to stay back to face him, or had they simply stayed back of their own volition in order to deal with one of the threats to their victory? Either way, it was laughable that these two felt they'd be able to handle him. From the looks of them, they appeared to be two grunts, and these were the type that they'd been dealing with all day. With a slight sigh, Linedwell quickly pushed off of his left foot once more and closed the distance between himself and one of the Fishmen. Before he could react, however, Linedwell moved up from his lowered position, hitting the Fishman below the chin with an open palmed strike. though he hadn't trained as much in martial arts as many others on Karate Island, there were a few things he'd picked up. With the Fishman's head being propelled upwards, Linedwell took advantage of this and unsheathed his blade before cutting the exposed neck of his opponent. His blade was able to cut through the flesh of his opponent with ease.

With his first opponent dead, Linedwell wasted no time moving to the next. His other opponent seemed to have another idea in mind, as he immediately turned tail and ran after seeing what happened to his ally. Linedwell's blade was still unsheathed at this point, and instead of chasing after the man, Linedwell figured he'd make use of something that hadn't exactly worked the last time he attempted it. With a fling of his arm and a flick of his wrist, Linedwell threw Treachery the air - the tip of the blade aimed for the back of the Fishman's head. The blade whistled as it sailed through the air, and with a wet thud the Fishman was now on the ground. With a slight smile, Linedwell made his way over to the dead body and retrieved his blade - shaking the blood off of it before sheathing it once more.

Sever Lugen
Sever had just found one of the explosive rounds that had been fired at them when they first approached the base and a wicked grin appeared on his face. He lifted the cannonball, his side giving him a significant amount of grief as he heaved the iron casing up into his hands and over to the cannon. As he was determining where to launch his next assault, he heard Isaac shouting down below him. He seemed to be yelling at the fish men, calling their bravery into question and challenging them to take on one human. Sever wondered how one man could be so courageous as to take on a dozen fish men at once, but as he was looking down he realized that Isaac was looking directly up at him, and that the group of fish men heading towards Isaac would make quite the ideal target for an explosive round from a cannon. After all, he had to treat kind in kind.

So, preparing the fuse and flicking another of the matches he had found, Sever plugged his ears and turned around once again, waiting for the tell tale boom that would signify the explosion of the cannon. Sever was no marksman, but he had a clean shot at the approaching group of fish men and he had quite a lot of room for error with an explosive cannonball. So, hearing the boom and turning around to see the cannon ball rushing down at the training ground beneath him he chuckled as he watched the fish men turn around to see what had just caused the large boom behind them. The look of shock on their faces was priceless, and Sever wished he had taken a picture because none of their faces would ever be seen in the same state again. The smoke rose where the blast hit, and Sever could hear no cries of anger, only the anguished moans of dying men. He laughed at the absurdity of using the fish men's own artillery to blow them up inside the base. Sever wasn't done yet either, and spotting a support pillar, he prepared another cannonball to launch. It would take him a few moments, but it seemed as if the last of the fish men had been taken out in the blast and there would no longer be any opposition. It only took a few moments before he'd loaded another round, and he shot it off towards the opposite wall of the base to where he was standing, the one facing the jungle. He didn't have much reason for doing this other than thinking it would be humorous, and believing that he would only get so many chances to destroy a large portion of a Marine Base with its own cannons. So, lighting the fuse, Sever called out to Isaac and Linedwell, wherever the latter was. "Bombs away!" He shouted, watching the cannonball sail across the base and crash into the wall, collapsing the balcony of the upper level and leaving a gaping hole in the wall. The rubble fell into the training ground and the place looked like it had been attacked by far more than three men. Sever gave out a chuckle and straightened his tie. "Alright, I'm ready to go now." He said, talking mostly to himself, but still loud enough for Isaac and possibly Linedwell to hear.
