Seiju's travels as a marine commander were taking him to Briss Kingdom in order to check in with a marine base. Orders from Captain Zed were tucked into his sleeve commissioning the base to provide Seiju with a uniform and other standard issue gear. However, bad weather had thrown the old man and his elderly Sennenryu companion, Scylla, off course. A storm forced the pair to take refuge on a moderately sized island with a town at its center. Having lost their supplies during the sudden tempest, Seiju decided that it was in his best interest to stop on the island to rest and restock food and water. Scylla had been carrying him on her back for the entire trip so far, so Seiju decided that she probably needed a good dose of R&R anyways.
With the goal of gathering goods to sustain him through his travels in mind, Seiju left Scylla in a coastal cave-like cove and headed into town. He would have liked to let the Sennenryu come along with him, but she was far too large and intimidating. If the marine had brought the dragonian bird to shop with him she'd likely only cause a panic. The last thing Seiju wanted was a scandal in the newspapers that read something along the lines of:
"Marine Attacks Town With Giant Bird!"
So with a parting wave, Seiju began walking along the beach by himself, veering inland once the sheer cliffs turned to sloping hills that were safe to climb. On his way up, Seiju noticed that there was a large church on the edge of the cliff sitting just above the cove where he'd left Scylla. "I hope nothing bad comes of it..." The elderly swordsman muttered to himself as he continued on his way. It was a few minutes of walking before Seiju reached the town, he found that he was quite hungry and his throat felt dry from dehydration. With an uncomfortable case of cotton mouth, Seiju made his first destination a small eatery.
Entering into the mom & pop dinner, Seiju looked around to see that there were only a few other customers. An elderly couple, a young man reading a book by himself, and a group of four children giggling amonst each other at a table. No one was at the bar though and that suited him just fine. The old man took a seat on a stool by himself and ordered some bread with a glass of water. He wanted to eat a more luxurious meal but there was only so many beli at the bottom of Seiju's shallow pockets and Scylla had quite the appetite. He'd need to conserve his money for now.
