"The most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, or even touched

The soft call of crickets rang out through the night as the moon basked Karate Island in it's white glow. The gentle clinking of armor against pavement echoed through the quiet streets as red hair glinted in the moonlight. "I wonder how crickets even get on island like this... It's not very lush here...", Liara said to herself as she strolled along. She'd spent the day gathering information in the town, casing several joints, trying to find out who knew who around here. That was one thing that slinking through the halls of her father's mansion gave her. The ones that had the most dirt on someone were the ones that were the most overlooked. Loose lips may sink ships, but in this case she'd do what she'd have to do.

Anything to find her mother.

Liara knew that sooner or later she was going to have to find a place to sleep for the night but for right now she was content on stewing on the events of the day and plotting out what her next plan was. The fishmen on this island were usually friendly enough though others wouldn't even look in Liara's direction. She didn't mind though. She was used to it. It just made getting information a little more difficult, but who cares? She had nothing better to do. And just as Liara made that thought she heard the sound of someone running from behind her. Fast breathing, stomping feet. She listened closer. Yelling... more feet. Someone was being chased. The girl with scarlet hair looked around and spotted an alleyway that was shrouded in darkness. She slunk into it and put her armored back against the wall before she glanced around the corner. In no time at all some man appeared running at a steady pace. Liara raised an eyebrow. He didn't seem like he was running at full speed. In fact, it seemed more like he was jogging. Was he not taking this seriously?

Liara looked past him and could see five fishmen tailing him, each with some kind of weaponry. Four had swords and one gangly looking one had a bow and arrow.

An arrow that was notched and ready to fire!

Liara's eyes widened. There was no way that the man was going to dodge an arrow he knew nothing about. She didn't even know who this was, but instinct kicked in. She reached down for one of her whips with her armored hand and unfurled it. She'd have to time this perfectly to do it right...

Liara calmed her breathing as she watched the oncoming chase. She waited until the running man was just in front of the alley... Then she flicked her wrist and flexed her arm. If her aim had been correct then her whip would have reached out and wrapped around the running man's waist before she pulled him into the shadows with her just as the fishman archer let his arrow fly...

Tonight was proving to be a rather profitable night,. At least, it was for Nicholas. Having spent the evening strolling around from tavern to tavern, simply having a good time and getting information, he had come across a group of fishmen playing cards, and more importantly, had noticed one of them had a dial in his possession. And as an enthusiast on dials, Nicholas was not going to let this one slip out from his fingers. He had taken part in the game, convincing the fishman to bet the dial. And in the end, Nicholas had won it.

And he had been about to leave with his prize when a clumsy barmaid knocked into him, causing him to drop the cards he had hidden up his sleeves. Needless to say, the fishmen were not pleased by this discovery. And now, Nichols was running from the horde of angry fishmen behind him. Well, not so much running as jogging. Nicholas was actually putting a pretty decent lead on these guys. Then again, fishmen were fastest in the water, not on land.

However, as he ran, all of a sudden, something lashed out and grabbed him by the wrist, yanking him towards an alleyway. Caught off guard, Nicholas yelped as he was pulled into the darkness, not even noticing the arrow shooting past where his head had been moments ago.Stumbling into the Darin, he crashed into an armored form, almost knocking him prone. Quickly regaining his senses, he looked to see a beautiful face framed by red hair...attached to a body wearing armor and holding a whip. Naturally, Nicholas's mind instantly placed this woman as some sort of authority figure here in the area.

"Officer, I don't know what you've been told, but I didn't steal anything!"

Upon closer inspection of the man that she'd managed to yank from danger, she actually found that he was rather handsome. A bit rough around the edges, but not that bad. With another flick of her wrist, her whip unwound from around the man's waist and slid back into it's holster. After hearing what he said, she raised an eyebrow at him. What in the four skies would make him think she was a police officer? Liara was about to say something before she realized that the pursuing fishmen were nearing their little hidey hole. She could already hear the fishmen meandering amongst themselves as they tried to find out where the man had gone. Liara's brown eyes glanced down at the odd looking sea-shell in the man's hand. Wait... that was a Dial!

How in the hell did a Dial get to the Blue Sea!?

Had this man been to Skypiea?! He must have some useful information! There was no way she was letting those fishmen get him first!

Liara placed an armored hand on the man's chest. "I couldn't care less, really, but if you'd like to survive the night then I suggest you follow my lead." With no further explanation, she pushed him as hard as she could - hopefully enough to send him sprawling into the street. She unfurled one of her whips again and cracked it just as the man would have came out into the moonlight. It would seem like she was striking him from the shadows.

"It would seem that I finally cornered you, filthy criminal!" If the man had any sense then he would realize that Liara was now really pretending to be a officer as he had initially thought. Maybe the fishmen would buy it.

Or not.

Well, this was certainly a piece of good news. The beautiful armoured lady WASN'T an officer of the law trying to apprehend him. Turns out she was just some random, helpful beauty...wearing armour and carrying a whip. Before he could respond to her words, the woman shoved him back, pushing him out into the street and almost knocking him down. Thankfully, he flipped back and recovered, landing on his feet as she cracked her whip and spoke out loud. It didn't take Nicholas very long (about a second or two) to figure out what was going on.

A smirk appeared on his face. It was time for him to put his acting abilities to the test. "Filthy?" he said, mocking offence, "Do I look filthy to you?" He threw off his coat with a flourish. "The name's Flashdance Nicky," He then jumped back, doing a backflip in the air and landing behind a barrel sitting by a building, "And it's a pleasure to meet YOU!" He lashed out with a kick, triggering his Jet Dial in the process. While his kicks were nothing to laugh at, the jet dial added onto it moreso, sending the barrel flying in the woman's direction.

Or rather, just off to the side. But from their angle, it would look like he was aiming the barrel straight for her. He hoped she would know to fake dodging the attack as well, and that the fishmen wouldn't have realized that he used a dial just now. That show of 'strength' might convince them to back off and let the woman handle it.

It would seem that this man actually had some modicom of intelligence. He instantly caught onto the ruse that she was playing and assumed his role. "Filthy? Do I look filthy to you?" Liara's face twisted into a sneer. "You don't want me to answer that..." A sweatdrop appeared on the side of Liara's forehead when she saw how eloquently the man threw off his coat. Don't over sell it, fool! As his coat flew off in the opposite direction, he spoke again. "The name's Flashdance Nicky and it's a pleasure to meet YOU!", he said while he backflipped through the air and landed behind a barrel. Liara facepalmed. These fishmen couldn't be that stupid. There was no way they were going to fall for this...

She looked over their way and surprisingly, they actually seemed a bit deterred.

A whooshing noise caught her attention. She witnessed the man kick the barrel that was in front of him before the sound but an ungodly force sent it careening at her. Well, not directly at her but just off to the side. Still, from where the fishmen were standing, it would look as if the barrel was heading straight for her. She still had to make it look good though...

Liara jumped to the right and skidded to a halt just a few feet away. She narrowed her brown eyes dangerously. "You're going to regret that..." Liara twirled around, her fiery red whip spinning around her before she flicked her wrist out towards Nicky. The cord wrapped around a light pole that was near the entrance to the alleyway he was in. She tugged and was airborne within a moment. She flew like an armored bird at the man. With her opposite hand, she grasped the other whip at her side and lashed out at Nicky. That same cracking sound occurred as she swung the whip around. The way she moved her arm however made it look like she'd used a horizontal slash. Especially when another barrel that was next to Nicky, exploded from the impact of her whip.
