Drum Island
Drum Island is a winter island that has never had a day where snow hasn't fell. Its very cold, but the people that live on the island are very kind despite the personality of the Island's ruler. He heavily taxes his people, though they live in a self ruling state and aid each other, rather than getting assistance from their king and his array of highly skilled doctors. He lives on the highest drum shaped mountain on the island in a lavish castle.
Kincaid Update:
Since organizing a coup against the ruling patriarch, Cyrus Kincaid has taken over the island and claimed it as his own personal turf. During the coup he managed to overthrow the king, take out the leader of the resistance group on the island, and even chuck the entire castle into the sea. This has paved the way for him to run the island the way he wishes to run it. With the land cleared Cyrus has built his own laboratory atop one of the trademark smokestack mountains of Drum.
In place of a monarchy, Cyrus has given power and voice to the people. The people have elected officials from the island, four in total with Cyrus making the fifth. These four other officials meet with Cyrus and inform him on what is going on on the island and what the people need or are asking for. When there is a decision to be made it takes all five to vote with the majority vote winning. He runs the island more like a business than a government and so far things seem to be going smoothly.
For the most part Cyrus leaves the people of Drum Island to their own devices, not interfering with their lives and keeping to himself in his lab. From time to time he'll wander down from his mountaintop and into one of the local bars to chat with the citizens or simply enjoy a cold drink. As far as Cyrus can tell the people of Drum seem happy and content with their new ruler, with many recognizing him on sight with cheerful hellos or waves.
