Adamantune had caught up with the lieutenant just after the long legged man called out to his men to 'Charge!'. Tilting into a sprint, Adamantune tackled into one of the fishmen. The two fell onto the ground with a rather loud crack! which indicated that the fishman in question had probably had his ribcage broken. With any luck, that was your spine, he thought devilishly. Lifting himself off the broken fishman, Adamantune got caught on his exoface with a sharp right hook by another fishman. He fell backward, off the first fishman. With a grunt, he aimed Riptide at the fishman's torso. Shooting off a volley, he wiped his face with his opposite hand.

After a moment, Adamantune got up onto his feet. Now facing the fishmen circling around someone, he shot three times at the group, hoping to catch at least two of them. Trying to see what they were trying to surround, Adamantune moved his head around a little bit.

Oh, it's the grasshopper.

Flames had already engulfed the town by the time the three ahead of Kouhei had decided to rush in. Flames that would eventually burn each and every house, building and even the clock. Even though this giant fire raged throughout the town, these fishmen still wanted this battle. They wanted to fight surrounded by pure chaos, knowing well that they might not make it out alive. This was to show the Yonko just how dedicated they were, and how brutal they could be. Kouhei estimated the marines had a good 15 minutes before the fires would engulf the entire town, creating smoke so thick they'd barely be able to see, let alone breath. But this didn't mean they'd just be doomed, even surrounded by burning buildings they would be able to get the oxygen needed to survive, but they'd all be lightheaded, which might actually give them an advantage over fishmen, who weren't used to smoke. Air was like a second language, so any lack of it would instantly be a bit more debilitating to them, compared to humans.

"One, two, three..." Kouhei says to himself, counting the targets ahead. His three allies ahead were handling their own business, but the young redheaded gunner decided to not just rush in and slaughter whatever. He dipped back another 5 meters from the group and scanned the area. He was basically at the opening of the town, with his three allies and a couple marines 7 meters ahead of him fighting inside. The fodder fishmen and marines were really duking it out, basically trading life for life. John C. Ena, a very muscular marine Captain had decided to join the fray, body slamming fodder fishmen approaching Kouhei. About three fishmen decided to attack the Captain, charging right at him. 6 shots rang from Kouhei's pistol, two bullets hit each of their brains and hearts. Another two shots were fired at a pufferfish the freaky looking grasshopper dude landed into. While the pufferfish died, his spikes already hit the boy, but luckily, the fishman wasn't very poisonous. Of course the boy would find himself nauseous, and very dizzy.

"Shit." Kouhei says, noticing that the dude was basically flailing his sword around. He must have been a new recruit, not really trained. Kou had to quickly reload his gun in order to protect the kid. This was made a little bit harder as two fodder fishmen came with swords at the man as he reloaded. Before either can strike they'd find themselves both kicked on the side of their faces with extreme force. Kouhei does this in one strike, using the same momentum from his right legged kick to first hit the charging fool on the left and carries it to the fool on the right. Both are laid out, in la la land counting sheep. Once he's done reloading he fires another six shots at the three fishmen by Anton. They're all hit in the chest and brain, dying instantly. With his final two bullets in the chamber, Kouhei hits two fodder fishmen trying to escape the town and hit him. Again he reloads his gun and decides to walk 3 meters ahead, with the town now 2 meters in front of him.

"Where are the bosses at?" Kouhei asks, looking for some type of leader. He quickly finds one, as a hammerhead sharkman and three grunts begin approaching the group. John, and Kouhei nod heads towards each other, realizes he must be taken out quick. Again, with rapid and decisive precision, Kouhei fires bullets at his enemies. He aims at the grunts and the boss, but the boss jumps out of the way, right into a left hook from the Captain, while his grunts take all of the damage from the 8 bullets fired. Kouhei reloads again, but this time switches to his Boomstix. After the heavy blow from John, he follows up by tossing the fishman about 5 meters in front of Kouhei, and tries to close the distance between the two. Kouhei fires 1 shot from his shotgun, which the fishman again dodges, yet catches 5 pellets in his right arm. Captain John has now closed the distance, and attempts another punch, yet misses, with the hammerhead ducked and hitting the marine with an uppercut. The two wrestle while the redheaded marine tries to get a clear shot with his Boomstix on the fish. They continue this, rolling three meters ahead of the gunner. Kouhei gets annoyed and decides to end this.

With a rapid movement, the redheaded man almost instantly appears 2 feet to the left of the now standing fishman and kicks him square in the face with his left leg. With his body in the air, he then kicks with his right foot again into the fishman's face. This knocks the hammerhead backwards, but he's still standing. Before the fishman can react, Captain John grabs the menace from behind and delivers a suplex, tossing him back about 5 feet. Kou catches his breath and fires another shotgun round at the downed hammerhead, which he tries to roll away from, but catches 10 pellets in the chest and belly, on his right side. Blood instantly starts to flow from his wounder, but he jumps up and holds it with his left arm.

"Huff... huff... huff... you guys... are tough... But you still haven't seen the true power of fish-" before he can even finish the sentence three marines stab him in the back, impaling the sharkman and causes more blood to flow. He drops to his knees and continues to breath hard, still not dead. Kouhei decides to end this, kicking the fishman directly in the nose, killing him instantly. Taking a quick breather, Kouhei pounds fist with the Captain.

"Good job sir, it seems that we've taken out one of the leaders. And by the looks of it, we're decimating the fishmen forces. I thought this battle would rage on longer, but I'm guessing we'll have these villains cleared out in a couple of minutes." Kouhei says, still on guard for Fishmen to "cleanse".

(16 shots from his pistol, 2 from his boomstix, also used Soru)

Hoshikita Cross

Marines
Marines

Hoshikita Cross
Hoshikita had dashed forward to continue the attack, and was trading blows with the swordfish fish man who had deflected his earlier attack. The young marine tried to connect with a powerful roundhouse kick, but all of his momentum was stopped when the enemy fish man impaled Hoshikita's leg with his nose. Blood spurted out from the wound, but luckily for the young marine, the attack had missed any of his vital arteries. Hoshikita cried out in pain, but didn't let up for a moment. He knew that there was plenty more to do after this, and he couldn't afford to be held up too much by a lone fish man. With a twist of his body and a flick of his legs, he spun himself around and slammed the enemy into the ground, breaking his nose in the process and leaving him gasping for air. The young marine then quickly yanked the broken piece of bone from his leg, wincing in pain as he did so before immediately looking around to ascertain the situation.

The red haired grasshopper man seemed to be flailing his swords wildly, which was some cause for concern to Hoshikita, but the other Marines were keeping their distance and he seemed to have some back up from behind. Dasnet was launching projectiles into the flesh of the fish men with great precision, and the other Marines seemed to be holding their own as well despite several of them having fallen out of the fight. A quick glance to his right showed Hoshikita that Kouhei was doing his best as well by providing cover fire to the group. Another extremely muscular marine that Hoshikita didn't recognize was there as well, and his powerful frame and decorated Marine coat instantly told the young marine that the man was a Captain. Relieved that an officer higher in command had joined the fray, Hoshikita was able to focus more on what it was that he needed to do rather than everyone else; and what he felt he needed to do now was go off and help the rest of the civilians evacuate. It seemed things were going well enough here, and all the people in the area seemed to have already cleared out, so Hoshikita felt it was his duty to head out and scout the next zone. "I'm off to help with the evacuation! Meet up with you fellas later!" Hoshikita shouted before hurriedly darting off into the sky and onto the rooftops through the use of Geppou. The fires were spreading quickly, and there wasn't much time to act.

When Hoshikita landed safely upon the tile of a nearby building he was able to accurately survey the severity of damage that the town had incurred. Buildings had crumbled from lack of supports, the clock tower was ablaze, and Hoshikita could still hear screams and fighting on the streets below through the smoke. What had earlier been just a few lines of smoke was now a raging fire, and while the smoke was thinned a bit at Hoshikita’s now higher elevation, it was certainly more difficult to breathe in the carbon filled air. His leg was still oozing blood, but the puncture had been small and it wasn’t cause for immediate concern. What was immediately concerning was assisting the civilians in escaping the fish men, and Hoshikita quickly set to that after getting his bearings. He dashed off across the rooftops, doing his best to ignore the pain that continued to twinge sporadically in his leg as he stressed the muscles. He had almost reached the edge of the neighborhood he had been traversing when he heard something whistling towards him through the air. The young marine turned around just in time to see a heavy spear hurtling at him at high speeds, and reflexively he jumped out of the way. The massive weapon had been speeding straight for his head, but due to his timely dodge Hoshikita managed to escape that fate, but not all injury. The hard steel of the spear ripped through his left side and tore at his muscle, leaving hot sanguine liquid pouring out of his body. The young Marine felt woozy for a moment, but he was able to clench his muscles and stem the flow as the wound wasn’t that deep as he searched for where his assailant might be.

Hoshikita didn’t have to search long, as only a moment later a figure came barreling over the edge of the rooftop from below and rushed at the young marine. From a cursory glance, Hoshikita could tell that the man wasn’t human, and that he was likely a merman of some sort. He held three spears with his lower body tentacles, and his form was massive. The hulking aquatic beast was moving at incredibly high speeds as well, and Hoshikita was just barely able to dodge out of the way as the writhing mass of tentacles swooped by him. The marine bounced back from his roll and turned to the squid merman, ready to fight. The merman looked to be rather manic, and he was grin shined white between his pale white lips. “What’chya doing up here, you flamingo bastard?” The squidman asked, likely referencing Hoshikita’s pink floral shirt and lengthy lower limbs. Hoshikita thought quickly on what he should do after being posed with the question. His opponent certainly seemed to be on a higher level than the young Lieutenant, and he had already been heavily injured, so victory would definitely be hardwon if it was even possible. On the other hand however, if he ran away with Soru or using some other method, this powerful merman would likely continue his rampage and kill who knew how many others. With that in mind, the young Marine knew that he couldn’t back down from his opponent. With a quick series of kicks at the tiles, Hoshikita shot off towards the merman in a straight line without warning. He had no reason to respond to a vile criminal who had assaulted innocents for no good reason, and no reason to offer an introduction. Hoshikita used the momentum he had gained from Soru to leap up and unleash a flying kick right into the merman’s gut that seemed to be quite effective as the opponent gasped for air. The two seemed frozen in place for a moment before one of the merman’s tentacles whipped up and slammed Hoshikita aside along the surface of the rooftop. The young marine tumbled along from the impact, but due to his great flexibility was able to right himself without losing too much of his momentum. Still, the blow had not been a soft one and the young marine’s muscles ached brutally at the point of impact. His long legs scraped on the tile of the roof as Hoshikita scrambled to once again get his footing and face his opponent, but as he readied himself for the next move he wondered if it had really been such a good idea to go off on his own.

The merman didn’t seem to look to phazed by Hoshikita’s strike, but the young Marine was already feeling exhausted. He wasn’t sure how long he would be able to keep on fighting, and it certainly wasn’t his intention to die here before he had even returned home as a Marine for the first time. With haggard breaths, Hoshikita ran at his opponent with all his might in an attempt to finish things quickly. The merman had the overwhelming advantage, in health, weaponry, range, speed, and power, but Hoshikita couldn’t let that stop him as he rushed forward. “Come on little birdy, I’ll roast you up real g-” The merman started to say as Hoshikita ran, but he was cut off by a high heeled foot slamming into his cheek that sent him flying several meters away. That high heel belonged to Captain Maria of Base Seventeen, a woman whom Hoshikita had never been more happy to see. “No one picks on my Lieutenant but me.” She said spitefully as she landed gracefully on the rooftop. Despite the chaos of the battlefield, and the raging flames that surrounded them, her appearance was immaculate. With a flip of her hair she looked over at Hoshikita and scoffed. “Require some assistance, Lieutenant Flamingo?” She asked with a laugh, her reference of the mermans earlier comment making Hoshikita think she might have just been watching the battle thus far to amuse herself.

So far, Anton's filling was keeping the fishmen back. Many of them were trying to avoid his wild falling, distracting them from other marines coming up behind them. Three of them went down to shots fired by others, and some had been sneak attacked by marines taking advantage of their distraction. Not the most impressive use of his abilities, but at least he was contributing something to this battle.

Something then caught the marine's eye. In a nearby burning building, he saw a figure peeking out of one of the windows. A small figure.

A child!? She's trapped!

Anton suddenly broke into a run, leaping through the crowd, stepping on a couple of surprised fishmen as he leaped for the building. Diving through the window, the marine dashed through the burning building, breaking down the door into athe room where the child was. It was a little girl, with brown hair in a blue dress. She was curled up in a ball, sobbing in fear, and her eyes widened as the grasshopper man approached her. "It's ok. I'm here to help!" The girl didn't get a chance to object as Anton suddenly pulled her into his arms, leaping through the window and downinto the street below. Holding the girl tight, Anton charged through the fighting, swinging his sword to strike any fishmen who got in his way. Managing to burst through the rabble, and out of the fighting, Anton gently set the girl down on the pavement. "Now quickly, go find your parents. Run as fast as you can!" The child could only nod before turning and running away.

Then, something slammed into the back of him, a sword. Thankfully the blow hadn't been strong enough to get through his exo-skeleton, though it did slice through his coat. Anton turned and looked back at who attacked him, seeing a clownfish fishman standing there rather sheepishly holding a sword. "Erm..." Anton let out a panicked shriek before kicking the fishman, hard. The unfortunate fishman flew back into his comrades, knocking them down in a pile. They quickly regained their senses though when Anton charged at them, screaming and flailing his sword. And so everyone was treated to the rather unusual sight of a bunch of fishmen pirates running from their lives from a screaming, flailing grasshopper man. Never mind the fact that he was utterly terrified of them, because right now, the fishmen were just trying to get as far away from the screaming horror as they could.

Adamantune was kind of taken aback by how many of the fishmen fell to Kouhei's sharpshooting from a little way back. His own weapon was not built to fire like that, operating more akin to a shotgun. Riptide was nigh impossible to use at long range, at least as Adamantune was now. He saw the grasshopper flee into a building, then escape in the same fashion this time holding a child. He saw the fishman take a sword to the zoanthrope, however, by the time he could have done anything about it, Adamantune himself was surrounded by a half dozen fishmen.

Come, now. Six superhumans versus a hunk of metal?

"Superfishmen, rustbucket"

Eh, is that so? You're a 'Rustbucketfish Fishman'? Didn't know there was such a species. Ensign Dasnet said, his eyes fleeting from one fishman to another.

With a bloodcurdling scream, the 'rustbucketfish fishman' raised his weapon - a club - and began to charge at Adamantune. Not wanting to catch any rust, he shoved the fishman off to the side. The fishman still caught a dirty blow on Adamantune's shoulder, although not without taking out one of his own guys. With a Hah! Adamantune faced the remaining four and emptied the rest of his ammunition for Riptide into them. 9 darts, 3 volleys fired. Thankfully, these guys were standing a little bit too close together, and thus were like the easiest sitting duck targets Adamantune ever had to shoot at. Not satisfied, the ensign, Adamantune Dasnet charged at the two in the middle, and tackled them both down.

He got on top of one of the two he took down. Then, he began pounding the fishman's face in. But, he did take care not to spend all of his energy there. Getting back up, there was the 'rustbucketfish fishman' left to deal with. Adamantune held up his hands, as if to surrender.

Hey, there now. Ah, this? Y'know how it is, gotta listen to the big boys at the top, like Spard, net? He stepped slowly ever so much more so closer to in front of the other of the two fishmen he had tackled over. How about we talk this over, maybe you won't even be tried as a fishman... Maybe they'll treat you like normal people?

That struck something in the fishman, who with a terrifying roar swung with a gigantic swing that even a sloth would have seen coming. Adamantune side stepped, allowing the fishman to again strike his already downed crew-mate. With another blood chilling call, the fishman attempted to sideswipe the ensign with his club, who by that time was already on the other side of the fishman. Rustbucket ended up clubbing the remaining two (the other half of the four Adamantune had shot just earlier - who were still just standing there) standing fishmen. Now Rustbucket was really cheesed.

Rustbucket kept throwing around his club in really a predictable pattern. Adamantune ran towards where he had last seen the grasshopper, meanwhile dodging all of the fishman's attacks. If he could only use this fishman against the others... However, when one of the fishman's attacks came too close to knocking his head straight off, Adamantune figured it was time to end it. The fishman swung. Adamantune went for a haymaking straight right cross type punch. They connected at the same time. The fishman fell kind of weird. Adamantune also fell down, on top of the fishman, their bodies perpendicular to the other's. There was a resounding crack! as some of the fishman's ribs broke.

At this point the battle was damn near over, there were less than 10 fishmen still alive, and they were getting mopped up by the remaining fodder pirates. Hoshi had dashed off somewhere, apparently Maria had followed because she was nowhere in sight. Kouhei, who still hadn't been fully in the town, reloaded his Boomstix and began walking into the burning city, minding any flames or falling over constructs, and of course fishmen. Since there were no civilians in sight, he decided to help his marine allies and escort the civilians onto the giant marine ships so they could flee. He noticed something though, the grasshopper had been erratically swinging his sword in a way that scared like 2 fishmen off. The giant metal man had been fighting and landed near the grasshopper, seemingly unconscious.

"Idiot."

Kouhei says, motioning towards Captain John. With a giant leap from his vastly superior leg muscles, the Captain lands with such grace near the downed marine and picks up Adamantune with one arm, whilst running and punching the fleeing fishmen with his other arm. Kou kinda laughs at this, but still stays focused. What a hell of a day though. This once great down was know being reduced to a pile of cinders, though this battle was won... but at what cost? These bloodthirsty fishmen had caused so much damage to so many innocents over a failed dream that they should have known would never come. Now all that remains is a bunch of misplaced people that just wanted to live their peaceful lives. Kou was so upset with how these savages acted... but what was he to do? The man now leaves the city, heading towards the ships.

Hoshikita Cross
Hoshikita was still racked with searing pain, but he was still able to stem the blood flow from his injuries through a combination of tensing his muscles and sheer force of will. "If you would be so kind, Ma'am." Hoshikita replied, struggling to stay on his feet. The two of them appeared as if they were fighting a very different battle, with Maria prim and proper and Hoshikita bruised and bloodied. The squid merman was a bit bruised as well, but still ready to fight and he charged at the two of them with ferocity. Maria looked at Hoshikita with a smile as the aquatic assailant charged forth. "At your ready, Lieutenant." She remarked, before looking back to the opponent. Hoshikita knew what to do, and while fighting against the pain he jumped back onto his hands and bent his knees inward. The pain in his side nearly toppled him, but he remained firm as he kicked out his legs with all of his might to form a piercing blast of wind that traveled right for the merman. Captain Maria let loose a Ryankaku of her own, hers travelling faster than Hoshikita's and splitting the man's spears into pieces with its precision. Then, with nothing to defend himself with, he was unable to stop Hoshikita's attack from barreling into his stomach and living his insides in tatters. He would be lucky to live while faced with such severe injuries, and Hoshikita and Maria had no time to tend to the enemy.

With the merman down, Captain Maria gave Hoshikita orders to assist with cleanup and evacuation and darted off to do her captainly duties, or so the young Lieutenant assumed. Not wanting to be subject to her ire, Hoshikita dashed off despite his injuries to search for any trapped survivors or straggling fishmen. It seemed that most of the enemy had already been cleaned up by the time Hoshikita had finished his battle with the merman, and the rest of the Marines were either hauling away captured criminals or assisting with the evacuation. The young lieutenant thought that he should use his height to his advantage and assist with directing civilians to the correct path. He did just that, and proceeded over to the ships where everyone seemed to be gathering. Once there, he found that there had been very few civilian casualties, and while the town had certainly suffered considerable damage, it could always be rebuilt. As he was helping a small boy up onto the Marine ship to meet his mother, he truly felt as if they had emerged victorious from the fight regardless of the structural damage. He wondered how long it would be before it would be safe enough for these people to return to the island, and figured that it would probably be up to the Marines. After all, this was merely the result of pirate activity in far off lands, and once that was stopped so would the aggression. That was a job for those much higher up in the chain of command than himself though, and Hoshikita would merely do his best at his own station to protect and serve the people. With that in mind, he merely continued his duties and hoped that after this incident they'd be allowed to return to their original stations. He hadn't thought he would, but Hoshikita missed the simple comforts of Base Seventeen.

The fishmen made a mad dash for the water, being pursued by the screaming grasshopper man with his flailing sword. Despite having promises of working under a yonkou, this didn't seem worth it. Hell, all around them, fishmen were falling and either dying or being captured. It was pretty clear this attack was not going to be considered much of a success to the yonkou, not to mention they wouldn't reap the benefits either. Chosing to live and fight another day, they dove off of the harbour into the water, swimming as fast as they could. Meanwhile, Anton stopped at the water, finally stopping his screaming and calming down. To be honest, he was a bit surprised he had succeeded in scaring them off like that. Well, better than then getting beaten down by bloodthirsty fishmen.

He turned back to survey what had happened. The town was a wreck. Houses were burning, with many of the marines turning to put the fires out, now that the fighting had calmed down. Whatever fishmen were left standing were being taken into custody. The fighting was over. They had one, though Anton had wished the town had been left in a better state of repair. At least the townsfolk had managed to get out in time. The fishmen had thankfully seemed more interested in causing destruction, rather than slaughtering innocent civilians. Made sense really. What did it prove to kill a bunch of unarmed civilians?

Anton let out a sigh, slowly reverting back to his human form. He really couldn't wait to be out of here. He could use a cup of tea, a good song, something to help calm his nerves after all the chaos that had happened today. As he walked through the remains of the battlefield, he noticed the large, metal man, laying atop a fishman. What was his name? Adamantune? Perhaps he got hurt fighting the fishmen. Anton ran over to offer assistance, even though in his regular form he wasn't as strong. "Are you ok?" he asked, moving to help his fellow marine up.

With everything settling down, Kouhei now begins helping people onto the ships meant to transport all the civilians elsewhere. Many are crying, some are injured. Shot, stabbed, burned, bruised... they went through hell today. All this senselessness for nothing. Nothing was gained for the brutes called fishmen, nothing but loss and embarrassment. This victory for the marines would scorn any fishmen that survived or tried to follow in the fallen footsteps of these idiots. But was this really a victory? The remaining marines that climbed on board all looked like they witnessed hell, even though this battle was short fought. PTSD would surely overcome some of them, while others would have survivors guilt and the pain of knowing they couldn't save their friends.

Kouhei was kinda like "whatever"... he lights a cigarette and climbs on board the ship with the others. He finds a place to sit down and stares off at the burning town, trying to find some peace. The screaming and crying of these people don't help. He begins to wonder though... if the marines knew an attack was coming, and they knew what direction it would begin, why not dock there? Why not make a base on all sides of the island? How did they even get this information? Something was fishy (hehe) and he didn't like it. Kou just chalked it up to the corruption of the marines, them knowing more than they tell others. He's just glad the four interesting marines he met made it out alive, well maybe not that weird looking giant fucking grasshopper. Nothing against him just... dude is a giant fucking grasshopper. After this was over Kou imagined he'd meet up with his new buddy Cross and have a smoke. Or maybe that Captain Maria... she was bad.

Adamantune woke up to someone touching him. Groggily, he called out,

Oi, ge'yer hands off'a me, -net.

He wrenched his arm away, finding himself on top of a fishman. It was his buddy, Rustbucket who had been swinging at Adamantune with his club just earlier. What're you doin'... oh, that's right. he thought.

The moments leading up to him getting knocked out came back to him instantaneously at that trigger. Yeah, he confronted the 'rustbucketfish fishman' who in turn rampaged, attacking his own crew-mates. Then Adamantune owned the shit out of the fishman who fell over, and in turn played victim to the full force of Adamantune's body weight, dropping like a guillotine, crushing his fish guts. Adamantune dropping on the fishman meant that he had to have been knocked out, too, right? Right. He had received a heavy swing to the temple from the fishman, the force of which, combined with the force Adamantune had applied into the counter acted as a counter of his own.

He looked over to the person who tried to help him up just a moment ago. Try as he might, he could not place the guy. Who was it? Was he a fishman? No, looked human. He was in Marine garb. Did not look like a medic, the guy looked like he had just come out of some fighting. Just then, Adamantune noticed that he was breathing heavily. With a deep breath and a strangled grunt, he got up to his feet.

Who're you? Ah, it doesn't even matter, let's get on, seeing as you got time to check up on me, seems like all this here's done. Time ta head out back to base, yeah?

He began towards camp.
