Hoshikita watched the horizon closely as he kept an eye out for any sign of the island that they were set to dock at. He had been assigned, along with a division of Marines from Base Seventeen, to reinforce the troops of a Marine base on a small unnamed island. Apparently, tensions between humans and fish men were at an all time high, and that particular area had become a hot spot for fish man activity. Marine higher ups had apparently become concerned that the island in question might soon be in danger, and had requested that the outpost be reinforced in preparation for such a scenario. Hoshikita himself hadn't been particularly keen to hear that fish men were the presumed enemy, as his one encounter with the species had not been entirely pleasant. He still had the scars to show for it, after a particularly violent eel fish man had taken a bite out of his soldier while he'd been out on patrol. Still, his usual commanding officer Captain Maria had also been assigned to the outpost, so Hoshikita would at least be able to rely on her if things did actually turn for the worst.
Before long, the boat had reached the small dock on the western side of the island where the outpost was located and everyone began disembarking under Commander Maria's orders. They were to be given one hour to familiarize themselves with their surroundings before reporting back for further orders. Hoshikita was particularly glad to hear such a command, and happily sauntered off towards the outpost to start exploring. It was a small encampment, only having three somewhat large buildings and two watch towers on opposite sides of the camp, as well as some rather cheaply constructed walls and a few dozen Marines already stationed there. Hoshikita wondered if it might not be better to be stationed at an out of the way place like this rather than the comparably large and busy Base Seventeen. It certainly seemed like it might be a bit more relaxing, and Hoshikita hoped that at least this temporary reinforcement would last a while before they encountered any sort of fish man aggression. Then, not wanting to spend his whole hour walking around, he found a comfortably discreet and shady spot to sit down and relax near one of the watch towers. He'd have to report to Captain Maria before long, but until then he could at least take it easy.
