common encounter
Fifty-four degrees out, crisp winds tickling the back of your neck and sending shivers down your spine, and Reinaka Sciwalker was wearing a training bra. Granted, this wasn’t the only thing she was wearing; there was the over-sized hoodie belonged to Owen Sharp, slumped over a pair of floral print capris, and you couldn’t ignore the beat-up, clearly well-worn pair of slippers – far too sparkly to be ignored, even if you tried – but still, really, Rei-Rei? In mid-October? Had any particularly curious passerby’s taken a moment from their far too busy and bustling schedules to inquire as to the reasoning behind her choice in wardrobe, she’d have laughed. Not just a little giggle either, mind! A real laugh, with a smile that crept all the way up to her eyes, then wriggled her hips and kindly informed them that she, “…liked ‘em! They’re cute!” Oh dear. Perhaps it was better then, that, so far, no one had yet to be so intrigued enough or courageous enough to ask about the innocent, yet still seemingly offensive style. Instead, odd looks and rolling eyes had been all she’d received…with the exception of the almost admiring once-over from the cute boy with the pair of red running shoes, which had, in turn, earned him a hair toss, and a grin before Reinaka had danced away, thinking no more of it than that.
Like nearly everything else in the world, she’d taken this in stride, and had chosen to go on with her night, gone right back to shimmying and swaying along the pier in time to the sounds of Def Leppard’s “Animal” in that little noggin of hers. It was a strange thing to do, one that only called more attention to her than the razzle dazzle in her shoes, or the nearly two feet of her legs she’d left exposed already did, but Rei-Rei didn’t mind this either. To be honest, she liked the attention, even if she chose not to respond to it. It made her feel somehow good inside, knowing that people were watching, even if it meant her thighs going numb from the cold. They weren’t though, luckily enough! Well, to be fair, they had been, but that had been when she’d only first come out onto the pier, and had only been walking. Ever since she’d decided to up her tempo, and start to dance, albeit badly, they’d returned to a perfectly comfortable temperature! See, there: yet another reason not to stop the dance.
Oh, but she did have to stop at one point though. When her breath became hitched, and her heart was pumping just a little too fast for her liking - and not nearly in the right way, nor for the right reasons, she might add – she decided that maybe, it was best if she stopped. Not for long. Just enough to catch her breath for a few seconds, that’s all. So, turning off the internal stereo, she ended her little game with one final twirl, almost falling over before she caught herself on Owen, though not nearly as gracefully as she’d have liked. She pressed up against the boy and tucked her head beneath his arm and wrapped it around her neck, squirming and shimming.
“Owennnnnn! It's so coolddd. My wings are gonna fall off! And all these boats out here are too crappy to steal! Are you guy's sure this plan is a good one. Keiji-kun seems a little dense if you asked me.” She snickered to herself then looked up and around Owen to Tai, whom she's fitted with a large hat and a backpack with a whole cut in the inside to hide his fin as best as possible.
"Are you sure you'd be able to fix a ship while we're at sea, Tai?! Tch...seems like we'd all drown eventually.."
