Task:

Orange Town was bright as ever. The people who lived on the island were very cheerful and were enjoying their time outside. There were also marines out doing their daily patrol around the town, greeting as well as being greeted by the islanders. Indeed, everything was going perfect at the once pirate wrecked island. But, even the most pure of islands had their dark corners.

At the other side of the island where barely any marines go over, scum and criminals are rumored to gather. This was known as the "Dark Edge" of Orange Town. This are of the town has existed for quite some time, but it seems it's level has threat has lowered over the years. It still did have it's shady characters though, primarily a little gang that was slowly rising to power in that area called the Charlie Gang. Sure, the name may sound pretty silly but they were still a threat to this island, but they have decided to prey on a small family owned restaurant.

The sound of plates shattering and chairs being knocked over can be heard from within the shop as well as obnoxious laughter. "Pl-please! Just take the beli and go. I know it's not the amount you asked for, but we are running short. We will have more for you, I swear!" a frail man who had a woman and two children, one boy, one girl pleaded to a small group of intimidating men. The intimidating man who appeared to have been in charge of the others walked closer to the frail man and held him up by the collar which would result in the kids screaming.

"Well, you see, James. Me and the other Charlies aren't big fans of being half assed you see?" the criminal said to the man rather bluntly before spitting in his face. "I'll cut you some slack though. We will take the beli you have now." the head Charlie said as he snapped his fingers to signal one of the grunts to take the belis.

"But, I'll be back tomorrow for a FULL payment. If your ass holds out on me again..." the head Charlie immediately threw the man down to the ground towards his family before finishing. "You and your family is going to be hung publicly for all of the "Dark Edge" to see." the Charlie said, coldly with a wicked grin on his face as he and his gang proceeded to leave the establishment with the family looking on, trembling in fear.

Marcel was walking around the "Dark Edge" of Orange Town due to the activity of marines on the outer part of the island. That area didn't seem too bad as it was led on to be. It seemed that there was regular citizens here in this area as well with its occasional shady people. The samurai couldn't let his guard down however which is why he had on his iron chest plate under his attire and of course his prized katana, Master's Will sheathed on his hip.

The samurai's stomach began to growl which caused Marcel to stop walking for a little before taking a good look around his area for a place to eat at. To his far left, he saw what appeared to be a small restaurant. Marcel nodded to himself and began to walk towards that direction, walking past the infamous gang who were walking in the opposite direction away from establishment.

Marcel opened the door to the building which appeared to have been slightly broken on the hinges causing the samurai to look at it a little before walking in. "Are you okay, dear?" coming from a feminine voice was the first thing Marcel heard when he walked in. It was the wife of the frail man who asked that to her husband as she and their kids helped him up. "I'm fine. You mustn't worry. It would be quite unprofessional in front of our customer." the frail man said as he directed his attention towards the samurai with a small smile on his face.

Marcel took a good look around the messy restaurant than back to the family. What happened here? He thought to himself.

"Please excuse the mess, sir." the frail man said as he took a quick bow as the wife and the daughter took brooms down from the wall to begin cleaning as the boy and man prepared to cook food. "What would you like to eat?" he asked Marcel. Marcel shook his head and asked, "What happened?" The family stopped what they were doing immediately after that question was asked. this has actually been the first time anyone has asked what happened in this shop. Customers either already knew or didn't care, so the sound of this question echoed through the families' ears.

"I-it's nothing, really. Come now, what do you want to ea-" before the frail man could finish his sentence, his wife placed a hand on his shoulder, looking at him with worry in her eyes. The man looked to his wife then back to his kids before looking to Marcel, sighing before he began to speak. "It all started a few years back. Five thugs came in to the building and ordered something to eat. They didn't seem bad or like thugs at first, but all of a sudden another man came in and demanded beli. The group of four that came in at first then got up and joined the other man, turns out that they were all part of the same group. We gave him the beli and he said that the store was now his and expected payment once a week." the frail man explained with tears coming down his eyes. He sniffed before continuing.

"Not too long ago, they came back in to pick up their weekly payment, but we came up short. They told us that they would return tomorrow, expecting the beli." The man then began to tremble in fear as more tears came down his eyes with his family also growing teary. "I-if we don't get the beli...he...he said that they will...hang me and my family publicly." the frail man said with his voice cracking up a little. His kids quickly went to their father, hugging him closely as the mother sat back with one of her hands over her eyes as she burst into tears.

Marcel stood there, quietly as he listened. His face looked cold, almost unforgiving. He then gripped the hilt of his sheathe katana before asking, "You said tomorrow, right?" to which the frail man looked to the samurai, nodding nervously. Marcel let out a sigh as his face went back to a less menacing expression. "I would like some Japanese rice balls. I will be taking them for to go."

After a sort while, the food was made and given to Marcel. "C-come again." the man said with a bow as Marcel began to walk off. Before leaving out the door, Marcel paused and said, "I'll be back tomorrow." Marcel glanced back to the family. They didn't know why but as soon as the samurai glanced at them, they were felt with a sense of reassurance. Marcel then took his leave.

It was afternoon the next day. Birds can be heard chirping from a distance as the sky was barely filled with clouds. Everything still looked peaceful on the outer part of Orange Town but on the inside, the "Dark Edge" it was still as dark as ever. Approaching the small family owned restaurant were the five grunts of the Charlie Gang who were given the order by their boss to go there before him.

One of the five slammed the door open, causing it to fall over and saw the small family huddled together with fear in their eyes. The first grunt grinned wickedly as the other four followed in behind. They walked about half way into the store with all of them staring in the direction of the family, not noticing that Marcel was sitting in one of the chairs in the back by the now broken down door. He cleaned the blade of his katana with a cloth as he watched one of the grunts walk up to the frail man, getting in his face. One of the other grunts pulled out four ropes, each of them having a hoop for hanging.

That is when Marcel slowly got up from his chair and began to walk up behind the group. The grunt with the ropes slowly turned his head around to see that Marcel was standing right behind him. Before he could say anything, Marcel pierced his katana through his back, coming out of his chest. The sudden attack caused the grunt to cough up blood, quickly alerting the other grunts and caused them to turn around. The other four grunts began to charge towards Marcel who reacted by quickly sliding his blade out of the dad grunt and forcefully kicking him towards one of the remaining grunts, knocking him over in the process.

Marcel dodged one of the other grunt's first punch and caught the other with his free hand before forcefully pulling the grunt towards Marcel, causing him to be pulled right into the samurai's blade, chest first. Marcel quickly kicked the next body down to the ground before going after the next grunt who had picked up an empty mug and attempted to smash it on Marcel's head. Instead, Marcel was able to slice the mug in half before quickly slicing the neck of that grunt, killing him. Marcel then turned his sights to the remaining two who attempted to double team them.

Marcel mimicked what the previous grunt tried to do and picked up another mug, successfully smashing it on one of the remaining grunt's head, knocking them out. He then proceeded to the last Charlie standing who picked up a broom and attempted to use it as a sword rather poorly. Marcel sliced the broom up into small pieces before slicing the neck of this one as well, killing him.

Marcel then walked back to the unconscious grunt and stabbed his katana through his forehead, making sure that he would never get up. He then slowly took the blade out of the grunt and faced towards the entrance, where he saw the Head Charlie leaning against the entrance with his arms crossed and a smirk on his face.

"Wow, James! I'm very impressed. You managed to get you and your family a bodyguard." the Head Charlie said as he pulled out two daggers for each hand. "So what if you killed a couple of lowly grunts? They can be easily replaced. I, however am not so easy to go down." The leader of the Charlies said, confidently as he prepared himself for battle. Marcel just stood there facing his last foe, silently with his katana out.

They both then lunged at each other, the daggers of the thug collided with the blade of the samurai. Marcel attempted a horizontal slash but the thug simply ducked it and slashed at Marcel's stomach which didn't do anything due to the chest plate. The thug instead tackled Marcel back first towards the counter which caused the family to move away in fear of getting hit. Marcel slammed the bottom of his hilt at the bottom of the thug's head, causing him some pain. The thug retaliated by upper cutting Marcel which caused some blood to drop down from the side of his mouth.

The thug then attempted to slice at Marcel's face but was deflected by the samurai's katana, only getting about three slices at the pirate's face. Marcel managed to overpower the thug, tackling him down back first into the ground. Marcel then rolled off of his foe who quickly got up himself and attempted to punch Marcel clean in the face. Marcel quickly side stepped it and dove his katana down towards the fist that tried to hit him, cutting off the thug's hand. Blood splashed out of the opening as the thug got back on the ground, screaming in pain. Marcel sat down on the thug's stomach, staring him in the eyes before impaling him in the chest.

The family looked to Marcel with a look that could only be described as praise. Marcel slowly took the katana out of the dead thug's chest and got off of him, rubbing the blood off of his blade with a cloth. He then wiped the blood on the side of his mouth off with his thumb as he began to look around the mess. "I should have taken this outside." Marcel admitted with a sigh before turning to the family to apologize, only to see that the frail man was on his knees, bowing towards Marcel.

"Th-thank you! Don't mind the mess! It is a little price to pay for you saving me and most importantly, my families' lives!" the thug continued to praise. Marcel sheathed his katana and continued to look at the family. He then proceeded to get the bodies out of the store, placing them where no one could find them. It took hours, but the establishment was finally clean with the help of Marcel.

The Medical samurai then waved off the family as he took his leave. The family looked on to their savior with big smiles on their face. The most brightest of towns have their dark corners. But, even dark corners can have their pure moments. No one would dare mess with that family or their restaurant as rumors of the Medical Samurai's triumph quickly found it's way around the "Dark Edge." No one, not even the family knew his name. People called him "The Angel of Death." while others called him an urban legend. But, to the family, he will always be known as, their savior.
