Really, she oughtn’t have been surprised. You would think after nearly two months of waiting after Kaldur'ahm here or there, she’d have come to the conclusion that it just wasn’t worth her while to bother to show up anywhere on time when he whom she was meeting was Kal. Were it someone else who kept her in a state of perpetual delay, who rendered her forever in an interim between one event and the next, the thought that her time would be better spent doing other things than being bided for the sake of this person would’ve crossed her mind many a time, no doubt about it. As things stood, however, it was not someone else; it was her soul connection to the Rev Army, and despite frequently disappointing her in the realm of affection and general fondness, Reinaka couldn’t bring herself to risk the chance that one day, maybe, just maybe, Kaldur'ahm would show up at the time he’d promised she would. Not ten minutes late, not five, not even a single, solitary minute in detention. One could only hope.
Be that as it may, today was not going to be the long-awaited exception to the general way things worked. Evidently. Reinaka sucked in her cheeks and held her breath for one second, two, release, then a sigh, long and soft. She should order. It was only logical, perfectly reasonable, entirely expectable: it’d been long enough since the set meeting time for her to. In fact, it would probably be against certain codes of etiquette for her not to go on. Probably. Or, another conceivable option now, she was just hungry. And bitter. The worst part of all this, she thought to herself as she shooed away a kind-faced waiter, wanting to be helpful, offering yet another refill for her water, and perhaps the menu this time, miss, was that Kaldur'ahm probably didn’t even think this was that important. Knowing him, chances were that she’d shrug it off, deeming it banal, trivial, really a waste of energy to be annoyed about, and this knowledge was enough to make Rei, she of flawless posture and rigid-backed chairs, slump in her seat, an actual slouch: shoulders pushed forward, hips sunk low, eyes down-cast. If only her mother could see her.
Then finally, a feeble hallelujah: the Baron walked in. Reinaka's bright eyes shot right back up, eyeing the man as the hostess, bumbling and bowing him all the way to his prime real estate table in the center of the restaurent: mob boss style and front and center for the whole place to see. How accurate her leaky source had been about the Baron's dining habits. After a moment’s inspection of the man, Reinaka found her suspicions had been correct; the smuggler was, indeed, a force to be reckoned with, that with just a short glance over of the man he had emanated this kind of aura from his spiritual pressure points he was able to display just how powerful he was, meant that she might be needing Kaldur'ahm there after all.
