[Arc-Task] Man Hunt on Jaya - Vincent and Junbei Clash! Large
'Without music, life would be a mistake.

It was exactly seven days since the conflict with Vincent. Junbei and Charlotte had been keeping low inside of the low income hotel that Junbei had been renting out for the last three months. Most of the damage that he'd taken from Charlotte's arrows had taken their due course in healing. Changing his bandages, Charlotte cleaned the man's puncture wounds with gauze, coating in antibody fluids. Wrapping the bandages around his shoulder and around his left leg, Charlotte completed process with a silver clip. "There. All done." the woman stated. It'd been awhile since he'd played, during the course of the last few days he couldn't sing either due to Charlotte's need for deep sleep, his personality prohibited from disrupting her. Now that he could finally move around with no pain, Junbei decided to take a walk around the town to see what the gossip or buzz among the townspeople was.

Putting on his jacket, Junbei reached for a makeshift brown cloak he'd bought in town about a month ago and exited the hotel. "I'll be back, Charlotte. You want anything from town?" the man inquired. "I'll be fine. Just bring back some edible please. Nothing too spicy, your killing me with the take-out from that curry shop." Charlotte responded bluntly. Moments after Junbei left the room, Charlotte heard a knocking on the door. "Did you forget-" the woman exclaimed annoyed, wondering what Junbei had returned for. "Hello. Charlotte." Genga said grinning. In town, the damage to the Moonlight Inn was substantial, investigation into the crime reported that Junbei had murdered the owner, burning down the building after local pirates had found out about the incident.

Sitting into the salon across the road, Junbei took a seat nearest to the exit, next to a pair of pirates playing cards. "And I heard they cut Vincent's hand off!" the pirate exclaimed revealing his pair of spades to win the pot. Laughing obnoxiously, the pirate raked all of the beli towards his seating arrangement by the table. "A pirate who has ties with the Revolutionary Army! Once the word gets wind of that, he'll definitely be on there radar." the pirate exclaimed, placing his earnings into the beli pouch. Getting up from the bar, after hours of listening to the men's countless banner, Junbei walked by the local shopping district to see his face plastered next to the likes of Kipp, Genga and Vega's Posters. "Young man!" a woman exclaimed. The fortune teller was elderly in her years, around 103 by her appearance, if Junbei could select an age, however, he was a bad gauge for these things, he even thought that Charlotte was in her thirties.

Approaching the woman, the man stooped down, making eye contact with the woman who sat at her small stall, around 12 inches in length and five inches in it's make. "I noticed you're walking aimlessly. Fate has told me to bestow this information onto you. You'll meet a man today that will change the way you progress in this world forever. On the outskirts of the village, the jungle area of Jaya." the woman defined using her clairvoyance. "Gishi Gishi... I wonder what you wanted old lady. I don't believe in that heeby jeebie stuff." Junbei responded, dropping some beli into the her offerings tray. "Ah... You may not believe but my eyes don't lie boy... You're a man's whose fate has cursed." the serer declared laughing. "What you make of it will truly decide the coarse..." the woman said giggling among herself as Junbei exited.

'Without music, life would be a mistake.
Curiosity always ended up resulting in Junbei making impulse decisions. Exiting the town, Junbei entered into the forest, observing the fauna and flora as he traversed it's contents. Directly in front of his current path, an unusual clearing could be observed. It was fairly peculiar, the path was clearly dug-out to progress to the end of the jungle but it deviated to a small clearing, leading to a seaside cliff. A man sat with his hoisted fishing rod, tied to the rock attempting to get a catch. Walking towards the seated male, he realized the man was missing a hand. His opened widely, it was Vincent and he had fallen asleep, waiting for a bite on his hook. Next to him a small chest, wooden in fixture but the hinge on the box was broken. Gently opening the chest, Junbei discovered a fruit. It puzzled him slightly, a fruit inside of a chest? That's so weird.

It bloomed like a flower at it's bottom with red like petals springing from it's root. While, at the fruit's tip or apex, spring a green stem which confused the man as to what in the world kind of fruit it was? Placing it close to his face, the man sniffed the fruit, trying to pick a scent or an aroma but it gave off none. It wasn't certainly something that deserved to be in a chest. Along it's luscious skinny purple skin, the sunlight did shine quite brightly, making it very appealing to the eye. Junbei's stomach began to grumble. The rod began to shake, startling the slumbering man and Junbei. The latched onto the rod and Junbei's teeth sunk into the fruit. It was the worst thing he had ever tasted in his life. Swallowing the fruit's contents from the initial bite, Junbei and Vincent's eyes made contact for the second time. In his hand was the stolen fruit and in Vincent's hand was a potential catch.

Reeling in the line, the fish was indeed a huge catch but Vincent's eyes were filled with fear. "Did you eat that fruit brat!?" the man shouted out of frustration and fear. "I just took a bite, it was awful. I just don't understand how something so oddly shaped could be-" Junbei stated but before he could even finish his sentence, the man lunged at him forcing him onto the ground. Drawing a blade from his back, the man attempting to stab Junbei in his heart. Shouting to get off of him, Junbei's anger released a loud and powerful sound wave pushing the man backwards. "Damn it..." the man exclaimed with his eardrums temporarily shattered. "He ate it... The Oto Oto No Mi." the man said nearly shouting, unable to control the pitch of his voice. "What in the world just happened?" Junbei thought shocked, sitting up guarding himself after the man's attempt on his life.

Disregarding the catch, Vincent walked to the tree branched, revealing the area high above where his marine jacket was hanging, placing the jacket on, adjusting to life without left hand, Vincent picked up the gigantic hammer with his right hand. "It just seems to be trouble after trouble with you kid. Do you understand the gravity of what you've just done?" the man inquired menacingly staring at the pirate. "What in the world was that fruit!?" Junbei exclaimed, almost shouting by his vocal pitch was amplified, slightly, further cringing the man's ears. "You can't even control it, goddamn brat relax! You've eaten a Devil's Fruit!" the man exclaimed.

"A Devil Fruit?" Junbei said, looking at his body in a peculiar manner. However, on the outside, nothing appeared to be different but biologically and composition wise, the man's genetic make-up had altered greatly. "On these seas, those who manage to get there hands on one can either gain immense capabilities or be stuck with subpar magical like powers. Legend says that the fruits give you Esper type abilities. Unfortunately for the World Government and the Marines a great injustice has taken place here today. You've eaten a rare kind of fruit called a Logia, that fruit's called the Oto Oto No Mi. It's a Devil Fruit that was lost at sea almost 300 years ago on a ship known as the Flying Dutchman. Rumors said it had the ability to let's owners manipulate sound waves, becoming a sound human." Vincent stated, fixing his spectacles. "We managed to recover the ship after receiving a potential tip on it's whereabouts in Water 7. To think a twenty year investigation into that ship and it's contents would end with another pirate consuming it." Vincent said sighing."Sound Human... Another Pirate...?" Junbei thought. Spinning the hammer above his head, "It doesn't matter though, I'll end this. Junbei Von Echo, your under arrest! I hereby officially label you an enemy of the marine core." Vincent exclaimed, using his Soru motion to close the distance between himself and Junbei.

"I don't know what bright ideas you had... about how this would've ended." Junbei exclaimed, clutching his body for impact. The man's hammer slammed into the man's ribcage. Once it's metallic fixture made contact, Junbei grappled onto the man's hammer's head, drawing his tonfa's from underneath his cloak. Spinning the Nigiri, with both hands completely filled, Junbei slammed the Tonfa's Ushiro's Atama into the man's ribcage. A cracking sound could be observed as Vincent went down to one knee. "If that's the case then!" Junbei exclaimed. Shouting at the top of his lungs, Junbei released an opera bellow that resonated through the forest, hitting everyone in contact with a powerful shockwave, being fifteen meters in Junbei's path. Vincent being at the heart of the attack, passed out not only shocked from the shockwave but permanently loosing his ability to hear.

Picking up his tonfa and strapped them underneath his cloak once again, Junbei closed the Marine Captain's eyes who was literally white in colour. Entering back into the forest, the nearby marines who had been hiding in the bush were now on the ground, motionless, with blood leaking from their eardrums. Continuing following the trail of marines, Junbei discovered a slight descent leaving a trail of marines along it's pathway.

'Without music, life would be a mistake.

At the end of the Jayan forest, lied a small ledge where several marine vessels where located. Closing his eyes, Junbei omitted a series of high frequency type waves, focusing his mind. He could for some reason now, subconsciously, hear the voices of everyone around him. Though, it was a subconscious thought, the abilities where so new to him that had yet felt like second nature. Jumping off the cliff, Junbei released a series of sound waves, which cushioned his fall, high pressure in nature, decompressing on each wave like a jetpack like movement, however it happened almost instantly. "This ability is... amazing." Junbei exclaimed. Slightly afraid of his own possible capabilities, knowing sonically now there was so much he could accomplish, Junbei traversed from marine ship to marine ship, hopping onto the stalagmite ridden cavern. Accelerating, for testing purposes forward, Junbei began to travel through the cavern, omitting sound and passing through sound vibrations in the air, to appear at the end of the cavern's entrance, into an open area where a giant gallon ship lied.

Several marines stood on guard, protecting the ship, however within a cavern with it's ability to echo, it was pretty much game set. "Let's try what I did on Vincent once more.... Sound Boom - Thunder's Symphony!" Junbei exclaimed, as large waves of red sound waves ushered through the cave, echoing and instantly deafening all of the guards on call. It was excruciating for anyone who had no protection against it, some clawed out there ears, others passed out from the shock of being deaf, some men simply watched as Junbei walked pass them with immense fear in their eyes. Climbing onto the galleon of the vessel, several ghosts manifest themselves before Junbei. An eerie chill went down the man's spine, releasing a series of senses from the drop in temperature.

"Who goes there...." the ghosts exclaimed creepily. "Ugh... Junbei?" the man responded. "Get out...." the ghosts responded motionlessly, beginning to shake from side to side in attempts to scare Junbei. Taking his tonfa, the man began to poke the ghost due to the apparition having no legs, his plasma like state intrigued him. "Oi.... That's so rude. It tickles ya' know!" one of the ghosts exclaimed. "Why in the hell are ya' not scared!?" the ghost, wearing a pirate had with a jolly roger symbol on it exclaimed. "Scared for what..." Junbei said walking around the ship, inspecting it's rooms and infrastructure assuming the ghost pack were all humans. "This is a pretty amazing ship. It looks newly refurbished too in some parts... While technically, it's an old make if you look at the mast." Junbei exclaimed, walking back onto the deck. "You seem to know alotta about ships?" the ghost inquired. "Nope. I just used to have a friend of mine who read books about the type of ship she'd command all the time. Gishishishi.." Junbei said laughing, remembering the expression on Isabella's face.

Turning to the ghosts, "By the way. Why are all of you green and floating?" Junbei inquired. "Cuz' were dead." the leader of the ghost pack, said smiling, flashing his gold teeth. "Eh..." Junbei thought, trying to process the notion. "Umm... Define dead?" Junbei asked puzzled tilting his head to the side. "Kind of slow aren't ya kid... We're the ghosts that haunt the ship known as the Flying Dutchman! Pirat-" the man exclaimed proudly but Junbei laid on the deck, staring at the cavern's ceiling, which had an opening to the sky. "Oi! How rude! Pay attention when people speak!" the ghost exclaimed, slightly annoyed but sad as he wanted to tell the tale of their former Captain's travels. Putting two and two together, the man sat up, looking at the ghost and yelled, "AH! YOU'RE ALL DEAD!" Junbei screamed with eyes popping out his socket. "You're a late bloomer aren't ya?" the ghostly man asked, sighing.

"Man... I guess this is one of those ghost ships or whatever. That's pretty damn awesome."
Junbei exclaimed, thinking about how excited Isabella would be know if she could explore the inner workings of this ship. Flashing back, "I'll be the Captain and Shipwright! You'll be my Vice Captain!" the woman exclaimed excitedly. "Huh..." Junbei's younger self would reply, looking at the woman puzzled as he wracked his brain trying to learn music theory from the rented library book. "It's decided! On my pirate ship, we'll find a haunted vessel and sing songs with the crew and ghosts! It'll be amazing!" the woman exclaimed, clutching onto Junbei smiling. The woman's enthusiasm for piracy warmed him heart because for them both, it represented freedom. Snapping back to reality, the ghosts where making silly faces in front of the man who zoned out. "Really?" Junbei said unimpressed, breaking into laughter. "Ha! Made you laugh though!" the ghost exclaimed.

"Well I guess we should get down to business then." the ghastly character announced in the moment of silence the ship experienced. "Would you like to be Captain of this Vessel, ugh.... Red Head?" the ghost asked, not sure on Junbei's name. "My names Junbei Von Echo. Captain of this Vessel, that'd be awesome but I won't be the one sailing the ship if I were too... Charlotte would. Ultimately, it's here decision once she inspects it." the man replied. "I'm just letting you know... As you can see this ship is haunted. Every Captain whose ever went onto the Captain the Flying Dutchman is cursed to face eternal haunting by it's crew. When you die, there's a chance you might be bounded to this ship too, if your spirit isn't strong enough. I was once the Pirate Captain of the Flying Dutchman, centuries ago." the man exclaimed. "This ship is haunted by nearly 200 ghosts however, we all can't manifest ourselves. Hence why I'm the mouth piece for the ship." the man exclaimed. "Your so rude! What's your name?" Junbei inquired, not interested in the details of the ship really. "Oh. My name is Harvey, Harvey Jones II." the exclaimed with pride. Smiling, "Harvey huh... I'll call you Harv. So Harv, does this ship have a piano?" Junbei inquired with sparkling eyes.

"Actually we do have one, it's in the Captain's Room, one the second floor. Lemme show ya'" Harvey said, floating towards the staircase which led to the deck below. The ship felt, lonely in a sense. It was a quiet kind of dreariness that remembered Junbei of the isolation room on Base #45, which made him itch even more for it, 'it' being the thrill of pressing his fingers against a dated grand piano. Opening the room to the Captain's chambers, Junbei's eyes lit up as he saw the dated grand piano before him. Rushing over, the man inspected the piano, wiping off the moss and several cobweb that infested the instrument. Tuning it for a few moments, the man's fingers danced against the keyboard as usual, transcending into pure angelic sounds. The man's playing caused a phenomenon that's never happened on the ship in over 100 years, all of the 200 ghosts that inhabited the vessel, had manifest into the room, all intensively listening to the man's requiem. "This kid... He's almost as good as I was." Harvey said smirking. Opening his mouth, Junbei began to sing an eerie song.

"All aboard, the song's been sung.
The story of the fallen ones.
Broken tattered, Cursed Sons.
Who're made to sail the seas.

All abroad, the song's been sung.
The story of the broken ones.
Strong and brave, Poseidon's sons.
Who're made to sail the seas."

"The story of the free." the man concluded his singing and playing with the songs final lines, after repeating the second reprieve. "That was..." before Harvey could even respond, the ghosts of the ship were livid. Slamming chairs against the wall, shuttering the windows of the Captain's room, it was there way of showing appreciation for the man's playing. "I guess they like it." Junbei said grinning, still playing a lighter version of the melody. "I don't care about dying. All men die, Harvey. I'll find a way to let you guys pass on to the afterlife but until then... Will you and your men be my nakama, all two hundred odd-some of ya'?" Junbei asked grinning. Tears filled the man's eyes, allow them to pass on? Nonsense he thought but it was in that moment, that Junbei learned that ghosts can cry. "Yes. Captain." the man simply responded. They were only words that filled his soul in this moment.

Exit.
