Ataru continued to sit on his stump, the sound of screams died down and Ataru assumed the fighting with it. He chuckled as he saw the first man's face lose color when the screams stopped, it was obvious that their side hadn't prevailed. Uncertainty covered the other man's face the axeman, he was probably wondering if he should sell out his employer or not. Ataru knew that the psychological effect of the battle they just entered would weigh heavily in his decision. What was supposed to be a routine snatch and grab for them had just turned into a whole patrol base being destroyed. There was no way a boss would allow some lietutant to return with their tails between their legs looking for another chance. The Axeman opened his mouth to start to speak and Ataru stood up with his sword at the ready. The man immediately closed his mouth and looked down despondent. Good, he knows what kind of situation this is now. He better hope Knuckles has any kindness in him today.
It wouldn't be long until the rest of his members were done with wrapping up their ends. When Knuckles arrived Ataru would position himself to the left behind him. He was cautious he knew that this was the one chance that the Axeman had to redeem himself not that he stood a chance on hurting anyone in the crew. What mattered is that he thought he could, in which case Knuckles would definitely kill him before Ataru would even get a word in. He would smile at Knuckles when he showed up and say"This ones, the group leader he's getting a little itchy. If he tries anything just jump out the way and I'll shoot in axe dial straight at him no way he's dodging that.". He would hope it wouldn't come to that, but Ataru had to prepared nonetheless. He wondered where this bandit leader's base was and what kind of structure he employed amongst his men. Generally with operations like this you'd see the boss as a center figurehead with no real delineation of duties. It was great because when you took out the figurehead in operations like that the rampant chaos made the cleanup even easier. You're operation is the exact same way hypocrite.
Ataru knew the voice well and he shut it out before its thoughts could go further. He did have a brilliant point though Ataru would need to change his command structure eventually as well. It was too troubling to have everything depend on one or two key figures, there needed to be a system that was above any figure. He didn't personally like laws, so he wouldn't use something as crude as that. It could possibly be beli but then he'd have to worry about having sustainable income. The problems of setting up a future network empire. Sighing he'd continue to watch the proceedings waiting for a chance to act.
