The sun had now set completely, and Sever was walking through the market district of the castle town towards the upper class neighborhood where he had been informed that the “Young Miss” lived. He merely wanted to scope out the situation and possibly get a glimpse at what kind of operation the supposed “she” was running. As he came into the open area of the market place however, he could hear a large amount of footsteps approaching from his left side. He looked over to the street in that direction and saw a group of about ten armed guards heading his way. They didn’t look happy, and they all started shouting and pointing when they saw Sever. After having seen this, Sever broke into a full sprint in the opposite direction. He had been around the block enough to know that those were not good signs and that he wouldn’t want to be caught by the guards at the moment. He had just gotten into town, and he could only assume that the stupid punk he had mutilated earlier had told the guards of his presence and earlier assault on him before perishing or being saved from the brink of death; Sever would likely never be sure. Nonetheless though, he had some running to do if he wanted to maintain some semblance of inconspicuousness; though that might already be in vain.
Sever continued running down the street until he found a corner he was able to turn on. He then bolted around the side of the building and continued onward, hoping to circle around and lose them, but he could still hear them hot on his tail. He cursed when he heard them turning the corner before he’d been able to get out of sight, and he resolved to pick up his pace a bit. If he was caught now, not only would he be prevented from continuing his business, but he might be recognized as a member of the new pirate crew Heaven’s Gear. Sever certainly didn’t want to think of the consequences of that, so he kept running as fast as he could muster. “Get back here!” Shouted one of the guards as they pursued him. “Give yourself up!” Another barked, holding up a wooden baton. As he ran, despite the situation Sever had to note the rather primitive weapons these men were using, and wondered if that was yet another example of the Briss Kingdom’s lack of prosperity. It was to his advantage though, as thus far he hadn’t been shot at which likely would have resulted in plenty of unpleasantness. Still, Sever knew he couldn’t keep running indefinitely and eventually he would have to find a way to lose these men.
