Iris van Valkenburgh
With still not even a hint about the perpetrator she was trying to chase, Iris did not exactly have a lot of choice. At least during transit from one island to the other, she learned there were only ships bound for two different places that had set sail off the baterillian port she ended up using herself in a few days. So at least this island was a better place to look at then most other places. And that's how it did not take the girl very long to find the more shady looking places around town. And those in turn, would be more likely to be linked to the local underworld-kind of people. She'd punched a face in and got at least a tiny lead from it before, that might just keep working for now.

As such, it happened to be that a fairly out of place girl sat in what would become an awfully dangerous bar later in the day, companied by the black wardrobe trunk. There already were some people back in more secluded seats that looked like they were basically waiting for someone they could stab and rob to show up, but right now, she didn't feel as if there was an immediate danger.
Iris had gotten a cup of coffee to be more inconspicuous and help pass the time. Staring into what was essentially dirty water, stirring in the ceramic cup seemed to accelerate the passage of time and cleared her mind for all kinds of inner monologue. Occasionally raising her head to throw a glance at people coming and going. While having no clues or specific people in mind meant she really did not have to, it seemed necessary to blend in -as much as a fairly young looking girl could blend in with mostly hardened looking men and women- with the small crowd of people that would form over the day however, as eyeing any person setting foot in the bar was something pretty much everyone did.

Over the span of two, maybe three hours the individual tables with a handful of chairs each ended up filling  to a decent degree and the first, typical crowded-location background murmurs welled up. Yet the usual prime hours were still some time away. Iris still had no idea what exactly she was looking for or expecting to happen but kept figuring and hoping that eventually something would happen or reach her ears. Something that would point at someone being in on local criminals and going-ons or the likes. Someone she could then follow and intercept, ideally. But that someone either had not come yet or by chance did not have a loud day today.

Blake was close to leaving Briss for a while to improve herself on another island, before coming back and raising hell for real. The rumours and search for the hooded killer girl had become quiet enough for her to visit one of the more shady bars in the city. It was a place even she would have usually avoided, but she knew that the place offered decent food and drinks and especially after sunset the whole place would be just perfect for a killer to hide, like a needle in a haystack, a killer in a pub full of criminals.

Calmly the girl entered the place known as Kitty Paw Pub and pulled the hood from her face to have a good look around. The usual kind of people were slowly filling the room and seats, while the friendly young girl behind the bar had all hands full to keep them all as drunk and behaved as possible. Blake knew her name, but then had forgotten it, yet she still acted rather friendly around her and quickly ordered a drink, which she then planed to take to one of the tables, but looking through the room most tables had already filled, only a space next to a rather young looking girl with white hair was still open. Excluding the space her baggage was taking up.

The Kuja took a moment to analysis the person on the table, she seemed rather innocent, so maybe even if it was big enough the box did not hold a body. A moment later she just shrugged and sat down across from the white hair. “I hope you don't mind, as you can see the pub is rather full.” That said she put her glass down on the table and used the chance to look through the room. “Somewhat rare to see someone like you here, you do not strike me as a murderer or thief”, said Blake without even looking at the girl. Instead she was eagerly observing the knife game a few man played on the table next to them. Sooner or later one of them was bound to lose a finger.

Marcel had just gotten off of a ferry. Of all the places in the South, it had to be this train wreck of an island. Well, on the bright side, it would probably be easier for the samurai to hide out in. Marcel placed the hoodie over his head from the cloak he was wearing over his clothing as he walked passed the docks. Everywhere he looked, there was destruction, and shady looking people. Even the air smelled more of blood than salt.

As he continued to walk, he noticed a bar coming up that didn't appear to be doing too good itself. People were coming in and out of the bar, meaning that it was still functional despite it's appearance. He couldn't help but notice the majority of the people going in were shady looking. The samurai rubbed his chest to make sure that his chest plate was equipped which it was before sighing before approaching the bar.

The first thing Marcel noticed when he entered was how packed the place was. There was barely anywhere to seat which annoyed him a little. He did notice an empty seat by what appeared to be two girls who looked to be in their teens. He didn't really question why they would be in a bar like this, nor did he care. He just wanted something to drink before heading off to wherever. But before he could take another step, a muscular bald guy wearing sunglasses and a biker mustache stepped up right in front of the Samurai's path appearing to be about six something in height.

"Oi Oi where do you think you're going, fresh meat? Before you can go up there to get yourself a little something, you have to give me a little something. Maybe that sword of yours on your hip?" the bald guy said as he held his hand out in a "gimme" motion while the people he was sitting with, no doubt a part of his gang or something laughed on. Marcel simply stared up at the man with an unamused expression on his face before walking past him.

"Woah now kid, where do you think you're going?" The biker looking man asked as he grabbed Marcel's shoulder with the rest of the bald man's associates getting up in the process. Marcel lowered his eyes a little. "We're really doing this?" Marcel asked before giving another sigh. He then slowly unsheathed his katana as the bald man grinned, believing that he was going to give it to him. "Here." Marcel simply said as he closed his eyes.

Without hesitation, Marcel suddenly pushed his arm back, reverse impaling the bald man through the chest. The man gasped and coughed up some blood while the samurai slowly slid the blade from his victim's chest. The bald man's partners looked on in shock as their boss fell face down on the ground with a pool of blood. Most of the people in the bar looked on before some of them went back to what they were doing while others cheered for the violence. Guessing that stuff like this happens often.

Marcel then sat at the seat beside the two girls and took out a cloth. "A glass of water, please." the samurai asked the bartender as he cleaned the blood off of his blade.

Time came and went, the place got packed. The barely more then a drop of coffee Iris had left in the cup had run cold several times over, but regardless she had kept the waitress from clearing it off the table a few times with a decisive, intervening gesture. Besides that, her mind was barely down on earth and in reality, mechanically turning to the door or sources of more then normal loudness occasionally. At least until some girl, fairly young looking, came and sat down at her table. Surprisingly no one had until now. “Just looking for someone. Knowing their preferences, they visit places like these to unwind.” Iris did not bother to spend more then a cursory glance on the young woman, and returned to meditating onto the ceramic coffee receptacle.

But, it was like someone had bottled up all noteworthy unrest over the course of the day and saved it for this moment. Because just barely after this woman seated herself on the table, an even more attention-drawing ruckus broke out at the door. Exactly the kind of thing Iris had, apparently successfully, tried to avoid. Some bully was going down on another person who had just tried to enter the bar. Moments later, one of them found themselves stabbed and on the floor, dead. The new customer was not it. While she did not think the person she was looking for would just show up and announce themselves a criminal and murderer and expected more of an accidental overhearing that outs anyone as involved in shifty activity, she figured keeping loose tabs on someone this ruthless could be better then nothing. Turns out that would be easier then expected for the moment, as selfsame killer seated himself at the girl's table without invitation as well. He did not even ask in a customary fashion, like the first intruder did. Regardless, she could not help but remark. “Guess my table has a murderer now. That better for you?” to make a bit of bitter mockery of the assumption the other woman had put forth moments earlier as if that was required to be in this locale. Though admittedly, hoping it was kind of implied was what made Iris visit and wait in the first place.

Just as Blake got a glass of juice to drink the place got rowdier. She had not expected anything less, even when she was not very happy about it, even worse, it had to end in someone dead. She took a glance at the hooded man and his weapon. It was seemingly a wannabe samurai, or however the people with the useless thin blades were called. “Somewhat rude to just sit at our table, don't you think?” Blake was about to give the man's chair a kick when a loud pain filled scream stopped her and pulled her attention to the table next to them. As she had predicted sooner or later one of the men would put a knife into his hand and sooner had arrived. She chuckled a little watching the man struggle with the knife in his hand, since the self proclaimed knife expert, had yet to cut herself even once. The screaming just got louder, what made it a pain in the ass to sort the trouble at her desk out. So much that she just decided to go up and pull the weapon out of the man's hand. “Shut up and go see a doctor!”

Having taken care of one annoyance she came back to her table and stabbed the weapon she had just acquired into the table. “People should not play with weapons...” That brought her back to the samurai man, calmly she turned toward him and opened her mouth again: “That also counts for you. If you kill someone you just attract unwanted attention, attention rarely anyone here wants.” That said she took a small sip of her juice, then turned towards the other girl on the table. “Sorry you said you were looking for someone, before we got interrupted.” Blake felt like she knew most of the important people of Briss, from the rich, to the scum, since she had made sure to do her research before killing anyone in the city.

"My apologies." Marcel said to the two girls while sheathing his katana.  Normally, Marcel would've been more formal and asked, but he had a lot on his mind due to recent events. Suddenly the sound of screaming shifted the samurai's attention towards the table with the guys playing with a knife. All Marcel could think of was how stupid that little game they were playing was. He watched as the girl with the hood got from her seat and went over to that table.

The samurai raised an eyebrow as he watched her remove the knife and couldn't help but snicker a little at her doctor comment. Marcel listened to her little rant as she came back. He then glanced over to her as she nagged him. A small smirk grew on his face from the girl's comment as his glass of water finally made it over to the table. "I'm very much aware of that." he said as he took a sip of the water. He placed the cup down before continuing. "But judging by the atmosphere of this establishment, death was the only option. If I were to just simply knock him out, then his crew wouldn't be standing there scared shitless." he claimed as he pointed to the small group who were just now processing what happened and decided to flee.

"They would have retaliated instead, which would have led to more violence." the samurai claimed as he picked up his cup. "I am also pretty sure that this place already brings "unwanted" attention by simply existing." he added as he took another sip, before turning his head away from the two since whatever they were talking about wasn't his business.

And the downpour of noise just kept coming. Not even a sentence exchanged between them, already another person screamed the pub to pieces. Immediately drawing looks of everyone, it became evident the guy had gotten stabbed playing with knives. The reaction of the other girl hat her table was unexpected to Iris however. That felt surprisingly not typical, skyrocketing her on the list of people to keep an eye on way past the sword guy. In Iris' logic, one could not be that hard-boiled and not be some kind of connected to local underworld-dealing. At the same time, she could not really tell what to think of the killer's statement. It seemed mighty like something people in novellas she used to read would say, speaking in a manner that no normal person would. Then again, the point was probably right, as evidenced by a couple people fleeing shortly after. On yet another side, his demonstration might just have quenched any interesting things that could have possibly been of interest to the girl.

Returning to the matter at hand somewhat reluctant, the girl echoed. “Yes, I was saying that. But it's a shot in the dark at best, I'm not even sure they are on Briss.” That was way more then she had planned to tell any random strangers, but it must have slipped given the fact that this was the first time since the incident anyone came anywhere close to caring, let alone anyone she'd been able to share thoughts with and bounce ideas off. With all the trouble suddenly stacking, Iris could not help but feel compelled to throw a worried, checking look to her side, making sure the trunk was still there, fine and locked. After that, her attention returned to the table guests. For the first time she looked at the two of them more then just in passing. The killer was dressed mighty fancy and un-regional, while the other girl was less exotic with mere lumpy clothes but easily recognizable hair, from what Iris could see without staring. Not exactly forgettable, so unlikely to be the arsonist she was sort-of-hunting, otherwise the people she had beat information out of would have mentioned something outstanding like that. Regardless, they could still be links to some crime net or the other.

Blake laughed and pulled the dagger from the table as she heard the samurai boy explain his silly reason for killing a man. “Killing is not the only option to end or prevent a brawl.” Slowly Blake got up for her demonstration and stepped back to the table, where she had just gotten the dagger from, looked the man still holding his bloody hand. Grinning she looked over to her table of origin, to make sure the man was looking, she did not waste her time on a demonstration with no one to learn anything. Then she swiftly stabbed the dagger all the way to the hilt into the already bleeding man's shoulder.

As if bit into the butt all his friends on the table jumped up and were about to pull their sword, when Blake stamped onto the floor and as if hit by a invisible hammer all sunk back onto their seats and crashed head first onto the table, even the man with the dagger in his shoulder. The bar patrons looked at the display in surprise. Their faces showed that they had at least felt a glimpse of Blake's power, but quickly went to continue with their own problems.

Blake just turned back around and to the samurai boy and the girl with a smile. She expected that the two also at least felt cold run down their spine. Then she calmly walked back and sat down again. She still had to drink her juice before all ice cubes inside it melted. Blake really hated watery juice. “Anyway!”, she began turning to the girl again, “So you are looking for a killer right? You sound as if he killed your family or something like that?” Blake still acted unreasonable collected. As if everything was just a game for her and in all honestly she felt exactly like that. A visit to the bar was always about entertaining herself, while enjoying snacks and drink.

The samurai couldn't help but overhear what the white haired girl said. Sounds like they are talking about searching for someone which further didn't capture Marcel's interest. He ignored the laughter and comment of the green haired girl and picked up his glass to take another sip. He then noticed that she had gotten up and went back to the other table. Marcel glanced over to her as she looked back, obviously showing that she wanted their attention.

He was a bit curious of what she was going to do, but decided to turn his head to the side to face the entrance. Whatever it was she was going to do to prove her point would probably not be that worthy of standing out. Soon the sound of the same man screaming can be heard filling the bar after getting stabbed, but Marcel gently twirled his glass around as he glanced at the noise. The samurai smirked when he noticed the others getting up to strike the girl. So much for trying to prevent a brawl, he thought to himself.

Just then, those very people who were huddled around the girl, ready to strike her down dropped back into their chairs with some dropping on the floor. Marcel raised an eyebrow as he continued to glance. Did she use some kind of sleeping gas? No, it couldn't have since there was no smoke in that area and he could've sworn that he felt a small chill run down his spine at that exact moment. Whatever that was seemed pretty impressive, but Marcel kept his stern expression as the girl came back over, perhaps to mess with her ego?

"Seems like you don't have any problem attracting unwanted attention yourself." the samurai commented as he stretched a little. "No doubt people will be talking about that little "magic trick" you pulled there."

Why was everyone so unnecessarily bent on stabbing others exactly the one time Iris was in this place? After the first demonstration, this further escalation only surprised her mildy at best. But the way all of the shoulder-stabbed guy's friends just kind of passed out just when they were in the process of jumping off their seats and returning the stabbing favour was unexpected, heck this was the first time she saw something like that happen. Adding one and one, Iris figured it must have been something this woman did.

The guy still at her table seemed to read the situation wrong, based on what he said. Certainly no one would be talking about what had just happened, that was the whole point of the demonstration. To send a signal of strength and pressure observers. But Iris said nothing. For one thing, it was easier not to start a fight, but also because after that interruption, the conversation she kind of had, had continued.

The other girl surprisingly hit the nail mostly on it's head. Though the shorter girl figured that was pure luck, not an entirely serious guess and also easily derived from the location they were in. Regardless, it surprised her for that unmistakable fraction of a second. “Does it matter what they did? The important part is that I find a person that recently had a paid 'job' on Baterilla and then took a ship off the island to either here or Karate.” And that was not even deflecting, like the first part. She had literally traded her livelyhood in physical integrity and monetary possession for that one in a million shot at payback. But not every stranger had to know that. Just the bare necessities were hopefully enough to maybe unlock bits of information someone might of had.

Zeppelin

Marines
Marines

Zeppelin
Why the local Marines allowed such places to exist, Zeppelin blamed on neglect and indifference. Perhaps it was even bribery. This was what she thought as she stared in the direction of a shady pub that was reportedly a favorite hangout for all sorts of unsavory characters. Her exact position was about 100 meters away down the road. As for what she was doing there, well, the Marines finally decided to crack down on the criminal den. All it took was a little bit of persuasion and asserting of authority. Unfortunately she couldn't bring with her any men other than her own so the arresting force was quite shorthanded. She resigned herself to the rather certain possibility that they would not be able to round up everyone in the bar. But the Commodore was not the type to dwell on the negatives. It's not as though she didn't have other options. For instance, simply getting the faces of everyone present inside would go a long way towards catching them eventually.

Zeppelin snapped her fingers and conjured 5 ghosts that appeared at her side. Pointing at the target, the phantoms made their way to the location by phasing through the ground so as not to draw attention. It was still fairly bright out after all. When they reached the bar, they drifted through the floors, walls and ceiling inconspicuously, watching and gathering information. How they did this was that their eyes would emerge from paintings or behind shelves, observing the people inside unnoticed. To be honest, they didn't have to be this cautious. There were a number of rowdy patrons inside that drew attention away from others. Should anyone, despite all the distractions present, still be able to spot the ghosts somehow, they would quickly fade back into the wall or floor so as to make the spotter believe he was just imagining things. Most of them were drunk after all.

Despite having a photographic memory, there were still quite a number of faces to memorize so it was a tall order nonetheless. She decided to go about this by starting with the obvious gang leader types and those who were blatantly trying to hide their faces under hoods or masks. She simply had to look for other identifying features. It wasn't too hard to pick them out. Of course everyone who started and participated in a scene would be prioritized too. For instance a certain green-haired girl walked over to another table and stabbed someone in the shoulder. Before it could escalate to a bigger brawl however, all the men who stood up to retaliate were unceremoniously knocked out without the girl doing anything but stamping on the floor. Zeppelin had seen this before. The expressions on the out cold faces of the victims pretty much gave it away. The Commodore was wary of possible fruit users being present, but a haki user was quite the surprise. She had one of her ghost eyes track her back to her table where two others sat: another girl with white hair and a hooded man with a sword. There was also a case nearby though there was no way of telling what was in it.

Due to not really having enough men, raiding the establishment head on was not the preferable method of rounding up the criminals. Zeppelin's strategy was to apprehend those who would leave. Her eyes in the pub would let her determine their numbers. Meanwhile, she had men stationed further up and down the roads to arrest them. She would be with the one group. Should larger parties leave and head in the direction away from her spot, she would send the men in reserve to back up those lying in wait on the other end of the road. A ghost would stealthily track them as they walked out to watch the happenings.

In all honesty Blake had gotten annoyed by the wannabe cool guy. She usually had a problem to control her anger, especially when something annoyed her greatly. “My method at least does not generate any dead bodies.” That said she started to the man. Who did that idiot even think he was, Blake was a wanted woman on Briss, wanted for killing multiple soldiers and rich folk and he was just some county bumpkin having a vacation in the big city. “Also if someone here wanted to talk about it, I am sure they would have only other criminals to tell them how scared they were of me.”

Blake laughed out loud, thinking she had made her point quite clear and quickly ordered another glass of juice. What the white haired girl said got her really interested! Curious she leaned across the table to take a closer look at her and her baggage. Mostly she was really curious about the content, from the way the girl talked it was some kind of weaponry to protect herself, unless it really were some dead bodies. “So you are looking for a professional killer.” She went into a thinking pose and leaned back, stretching her arms wide in the process, wide enough to push against the hood of the man next to her, but she did not really care too much.

“I can't think of any professionals around here, well maybe me, but I work my own jobs, not jobs for other people”, she explained, after thinking for a while, “but if there is someone on the Karate Island, that would be interesting.” Blake smiled devious as always and welcomed the new glass of juice. “I wanted to head there, because I heard it is a great place.” It indeed was her plan to head to Karate Island, after she had learned that she had many things to improve on and also learned that Karate Island was a great place to improve oneself. If the girl already had a ship or anything waiting to take her there, she was not going to say no to this opportunity.

Marcel glanced over to the green haired girl and shrugged slightly from what she said. He couldn't really be bothered with an argument as tedious as this, or maybe he just had nothing else to say and refused to admit that she was right. "Oi, why are these "Blue" girls always this loud?" Marcel mumbled to himself while slowly rubbing his ear that was towards Blake as a result from her laughing. The samurai was much more use to the women from Wano. Quiet, respectful, and tolerable.

The red eyed pirate looked up to Iris as she spoke. To him, it appeared as if she didn't want to go into full detail about whatever it is she was doing or whoever she was looking for, but what she has said so far peeked the interest of this reserved character. Why was she looking for this individual? From the sound of it they did something that wronged this individual and she's out for revenge. Another fresh glass of water has came to the table and Marcel picked up. As the edge of the cup met his lips, a sudden push from the green haired girl next to him caused some of it to spill on his clothing.

The samurai's eye twitched a little before calmly placing the cup down. "Guessing you were never taught about personal space?" Marcel asked a bit sarcastically with a sigh before he grabbed a napkin to wipe it off. "I only heard about Karate Island, but I've never gone there myself." he added into the conversation. It was a pretty sill name to him. Karate Island? Highly doubt that the only thing that goes on there is karate. "Wouldn't really mind going there myself. Perhaps I could find something good to draw the-"

Marcel's eyes widened slightly as he just realized that he had his sketchbook hidden within his attire. He pulled it out quickly to see if there was any water damage, sighing in relief to see that there was no damage thanks to it being hidden underneath his armor. He didn't know what he would've done if anything happened to that.

One could practically see the gears in Iris' head turning for a hot second, trying to make the best of what had happened, what she had learned in the last minutes and what her options were. “It's evident, neither of you are it.” was her opener to the conclusion. “As indicated by the fact we're even having this conversation. So if you have not heard anything of some killer coming from Baterilla, chances are that the guy is on Karate Island.”
She was mostly talking to green hair, the guy did not quite seems like he was the right kind of person after all. His entrance was flashy and showed some toughness, but unlike the other one, he lacked that certain edge. Ideally, this killer could do the dirty work and collaboration with shady figures for Iris, mostly because of being obviously a killer, thus easily introduced to a local backalley scene, on top of wanting to go to the other possible location anyway. But she also knew she had quite literally nothing to exchange for this service. “You don't happen to give favors to strangers?” It was worth a shot, short of shipping over to Karate Island and repeating the same thing Iris did on Baterilla and might do on Briss. The other outcome would probably be to get stabbed on the spot or the likes for a move this foolish and bold, which was fine with her. If she died chasing down her goal, that was the next best thing besides achieving it.

Sword guy fiddling with his clothes after getting water on them punctuated Iris' statement. Drawing her attention for a moment, occupying the time span between the question and the answer, whichever form it would take. She did not think this guy to be the sketching type, but she then figured to not be surprised by weird things weird people did. Pulling out a sketchbook and maniacally checking it was exactly that.
