[Open] Moonlight Night - Sea Train Arrives: The Disturbance in Jaya Large
'Without music, life would be a mistake.

As the train pulled into the docking area of Jaya Island, the conductor noticed that something was significantly different about this voyage. First, he was calling the train station for almost four hours now but garnered no response. The Second strange fact was that no light could be seen from the station in the distance and it's usually fairly busy at these hours of the night, pulling into the station's nearest port, the conductor announced to the Sea Train passengers that he'd be stopping shortly, one stop before Jaya's main station, a fill up point on the outskirts of the island. Ringing once again, the conductor heard no response from the station and decided to call the Sea Train Stations at the other branches to check and see if it was only the Jaya Station that wasn't responding. His hunch was correct, the other towns quickly answered calls, further reporting that they hadn't heard any calls from the Jaya Station either.

Moments later, the port responded, "Roger. Ugh... We've been facing some technical difficulties. My name is Joe." the man on the other side of the Den Den Mushi reported. "Where's Gregory? The usual guy?" the conductor inquired. "Umm... He's sick. I'm a trainee. It's actually my first few weeks on the job so I ain't too good with these switches." the man reported. Exhaling, "Come on rookie, you gotta stay on top of these things, I got a schedule to follow ya' know." the conductor said sighing. Starting up the train once again, the Sea Train pulled into Jaya, docking off at the Mock Town Station. As the doors open, the passengers were met by a series of well dressed bell-hops, who escorted them off the train as usual. However, as the passengers disembarked, all that could've been observed on the bell-hops faces were smiles. Weird to most, some passengers felt uncomfortable, avoiding the service and opting to sleep at a nearby Inn for the night.

As the Sea Train pulled off, the bell-hops showed their true fangs, pulling out their katanas, each showing off crooked teeth and whiskey stained breath. From the port, the following message was broadcasted. "Ugh... My name is Rick. I'm a navigator for the Kipp Pirate Crew. Right now, the city is currently under a reforming by our leader, Kipp Wright. Right now, we'd like everyone to remain calm as we request each of yer' luggage for inspection!" Rick reported, hiccuping in between words due to his frequent intoxication through the day. "P.S. I killed the rookie attendant in the station, so I ain't afraid to kill ya'll either so no heroes!" the man exclaimed, frantically laughing afterwards.

Walking pass the port, Junbei's radar picked up on the sound-waves, morphing his body into his sound form, which was still a little weird for him, he stood on the outskirts of the port. "Kipp's really taking this invasion thing seriously." Junbei said, watching from cliffside, overlooking the port. "Tch. I was almost this close to finding that bastard too... Maybe his men might no what's up?" Junbei stated shrugging.

Mavis Lockheart
Mavis had finished her spa, they were close to Jaya, however Mavis felt something was off this didn’t feel normal to her, it felt bad. Like her life was endangered, she sighed, yet again she was going to sneak off this train because she really didn’t want to go through authority.

“Alright Mavis… back down these carts…” Mavis told herself.

As she went down the carts she was focused on ignoring the men and women who tried to conversate with her, this wasn’t the time. As she had made it halfway to her point, she heard a man over the intercom. The train was going to be raided basically. She cursed to herself, and mentally noted their name. Kipp Pirates.

Her pace quickened, the line waiting by the bell-hops was basically shitting themselves. Upon arriving in the cargo-hold she found the large bag again and hit in it placing the clothes around herself and her gun like a cocoon.

“Shit… is this the end…” Mavis whispered.

Just then Mavis was reviewing what she heard from Rick. She realized she had fucked up because they were going to go through the luggage. Mavis screwed up and it was because she wasn’t calm she was too worried of sneaking off that she forgot important information. Oh well, if they find her she better hope she’s lucky and they decide to spare her, imprison her.

Her thoughts were flooded with her past.

-Flashback-

“Gather all the women and children here this town is mine! Murder the men.” Her father’s voice boomed.

His men were quick to follow out their orders, they were like cockroaches, when one slaver disappeared more took his place. Mavis’ tears fell into the dry dirt wetting it. Her father saw this and smiled, he bent down and licked her cheek.

“Mmm, your tears almost taste as good as your mother.” He chuckled.

Mavis fell to the ground sobbing even more, she couldn’t do anything

-End of Flashback-

Was this what the Kipp Pirates were doing the gain control? Mavis felt like she did many years ago and it was tearing her emotionally apart.

"If you want to be a hero, why become a pirate? I know... The marines here are evil people but you could change the world from the inside out right?" Junbei said, one day in a conversation back on Base #45. The girl's pale skin stretched as a smile filled her face, "You're coward at heart aren't you, JunJun?" Isabella said grinning. The child pouted in frustration at being called a coward by the woman. "What'd be the fun in that? I want the freedom to be a 'hero' or be the 'villain'. It's because humans are so caught up on right and wrong that places like these bases exist. I want a clean start! Once this is all over, I'll hit the seas and become the first ever Pirate Queen!" Isabella said grinning. The flashback faded as tears welled in his eyes, wiping the tears into the shoulder of his jacket.

Resting the tonfa on his shoulders, "This is none of my business. My beef is with Kipp, not any of his men." Junbei thought. "But if I turned my back here... I'm sure she'd frown on me from heaven." Junbei exclaimed. Down by the port side, the pirates ripped the luggage off the ships, ripping open each bag one by one. Becoming intangible, dashing down from cliffside, Junbei appeared among the crowd of scared passengers. Removing his cloak, revealing his sky blue eyes, Junbei broke away from the pack, approaching the pirate squadrons and rested his tonfa's cold cannonball on his shoulder.

Turning around in anger, the man swiped wildly, as the blade approached slowly, Junbei simply allowed the blade to phase through him, causing the man to fall onto the floor from the force of his own swing. "Hey. I'm looking for someone. Is it possible you gentlemen can give me a hand?" Junbei inquired. The man looked at the 6' foot tall man, gulping as his sky blues eyes glowed in the moonlight. "You little! Do you even understand where ya' are?" the pirate exclaimed. Swinging his tonfa, the force from the spinning titanium baton sent fear into all around who heard it's sound. Five of the grunts rose their guns towards Junbei, each taking aim with their rifles. "I can't use my Oto Oto around these people... It'll be a little too reckless." Junbei said grinning. The remaining men continued to dig through the luggage, ripping them apart to find money, jewellery and a 'variety' of stored contraband.

Mavis could hear the scene outside the luggage bag she was in, it was growing intense, of course someone was being the hero. Her heart began to pound she wanted to fight for what was right, but her mother’s voice anytime she tried to engage in combat would tell her not too. She had to do something though, it wouldn’t be too long till she was found, she could hear the suitcases and bags of luggage falling to the ground. She heard the rummaging, jewelry and gold clinging together. She sighed, this couldn’t continue she had to do something.

“Should I fight?” Mavis whispered, asking herself.

Just as the question was asked two pirates had ripped open the bag, surprised to see a woman.

“Oh wow! A woman!” One of the men yelled.

The other smirked, “Surely this can count as looting treasure.”

Mavis shrieked. “Don’t touch me!!”

As she screamed shoving the butt of her gun in their face. They fell onto their butts.

“Crap…” Mavis sighed, noticing the men surrounding her.

Mavis knew she’d be surrounded when that stupid man, announced they found a girl. However she wasn’t an easy flower to catch. Mavis jumped onto one of their heads using them to get over the other pirates. Jolting down the carts of the Sea-Train. Clenching her gun tightly, she ran for the exit, any pirates who tried to stop her she smacked them out of the way with the barrel of her gun. After getting outside she saw a man with a tonfa in each hand, they had cannonballs on the tip, she was in awe. She’s never seen anyone fight with such a weapon, just then she felt a man grasp her hand yanking her back.

“Hey!” Mavis screamed, “Unhand me!”

She bit his hand gripping her left hand than swinging her gun up his crotch. She ran behind the man with the tonfas and hid behind him as a guard.

“Sorry… if you need help I will help just, I feel safer right here… but if you need me to do anything just ask.” Mavis told the man.

The scene played out comedically as the tension Junbei and the pirates by the dock had built up had seemingly faded away. A woman who apparently was still onboard the Sea Train had pointed, what seemed to be a rifle towards the man's crotch, scuttling over to Junbei, resting her back against his. "You gotta lot of guts to come gun blaring into a situation like this." Junbei said grinning. "Names Junbei. If we make it out of this alive, drinks on me." Junbei said smirking. "Could you handle the marksman... They're kind of a pain." Junbei said lifting up his left and right tonfa, waist level. Dashing forward, Junbei smacked his tonfa's Shomen into the man's neck. The cannonball fixture snapped the man's neck in one strike, accelerating, Junbei dashed around the entire battlefield, at speeds that'd appear like a mere blur to an untrained eye, moving at the speed of sound. Within an instant, of the twenty or odd-some grunts, nearly half were left motionless.

The remainder were terrified at being unable to track the man's movements, releasing a series of sound waves towards the fleeing pirates, the red waves caused the men to instantly fall to their knees, each vomiting and scratching out their ears until they passed out. Turning towards the passengers, "I'd recommend all ya'll wait here in the port until morning. Right now, Mock Town's in a pretty terrible state." Junbei stated. "Not sure how this whole thing works but-" Junbei's speech was ended at the feel of a steel barrel resting against the back of his head. "I don't- don't- know who you are but if Kipp finds out we failed, it's over for us all get it!" the man from the intercom, Rick shouted in fear. Dropping his tonfa, Junbei placed his hands in the air, "Don't do anything stupid dude... Drop the pistol and let these people get on the next Sea Train." Junbei said grinning.

"I'm the one with the gun! I'll make the-" Rick exclaimed but his words were ceased by a red rope emerging from Junbei's leg, wrapping around his back, the rope, which was a soundwave in nature, lashed against the man's ribcage, sending him flying five meters into a nearby wall. "Jeez... I didn't even want to use my abilities here... I've gotten too dependent on them." Junbei thought, smiling at the notion. Turning back to the passengers, a stiff look filled there faces. "They're terrified. Oops" Junbei exclaimed sighing. I'd make sense, as all of the movements Junbei had made happen at speeds an average person couldn't perceived, it probably appeared like he teleported a bunch of times. Bending over, the man picked back up his tonfa, resting the left one on his shoulder.

As she thought, he had asked if she could handle the marksmen, she smiled nodding. She prepped her muzzleloader-rifle ready to fire and give these pirates hell, however once again a voice in her head rang.

“Mavis, please don’t fire…”  The voice sounded so much like her mother’s.

Mavis felt her eyes water but she shook her head, running in a zigzag pattern at one of the marksmen. When she reached on she grabbed the side of the barrel of the rifle and jumped over his head. When she landed she held the man in the air and slammed him down. His grip loosened on the gun, Mavis took it and smirked. Checking the ammunition she sighed, it only held eight bullets. However her own gun, strapped to her back, had twelve bullets, so she should be fine.

“Ask for mercy.” Mavis smirked.

She fired each bullet at the marksmen’s chest, after one and another they fell lifeless. Beneath her feet laid the eight shells from the rifle. Mavis scanned the battlefield for any more pirates hiding. She spotted three hiding in a bush, she jumped and dodged the bullets, nearly. She refilled the Rifle with eight bullets from her gun. Using three she had fired at the men leaving them lifeless.

Mavis turned and fired a bullet at another bullet incoming, the bullets both shattered into pieces falling. Mavis quickly used her keen vision to scope out this last marksman. Spotting him in a tree she fired two bullets, one for his chest the other for his head. After finishing him, she put the rifle down and walked over to the crowd of terrified passengers. Mavis smiled at them trying to calm their nerves.

“Listen don’t be frighten the man with the Tonfas saved our lives. I think we should listen to him and camp out here at this dock, the Sea-train has enough food to last us a week.” Mavis told the crowd, “Plus if we get ambushed again we should scrape the cutlasses from these pirates and use them to defend ourselves.”

She turned to the Tonfa-man and bowed. “Thank you for your help.”

Mavis stood straight waiting for his response, basically waiting for an order.

Junbei looked across at the marksman's handy work, she was a pretty decent shoot from what it seems. The woman tried to encourage the passengers to not be afraid of Junbei but it wasn't anything new to him. The man simply smirked, "It's fine. I'm accustomed to glares like that this. I'm not sure when the next trains coming but I'll wait here until it arrives. Once that happens, I'll head back into the city." Junbei said, resting his tonfa against the port building's walls. The people huddle over towards the tracks, each trying to salvage their luggage that was now scattered against the ground. Sitting onto the floor, the man pressed his back against the building, keeping alert for any chance of more of Kipp's men arriving. He wondered if Charlotte was safe and what in the world was going on in Mock Town. He really couldn't afford to wait around any longer but in his downtime, it was perfect timing to rest his body for a bit. He'd been running around town the whole night.

The woman had bowed towards him in appreciation. "Gishishi" Junbei exclaimed laughing. "I didn't really do this to be a hero to a bunch of strangers." Junbei said quite boldly. "I thought I could get information on Kipp but then... I kind of got in the moment and took them out." Junbei said, sticking out his tongue playfully, closing his right eye. Opening his sky blue eyes, as the late night wind blew his auburn hair, the man stared up at the blood red moon. "Besides the longer I stay here, the less time I'm spending fulfilling my first goal." Junbei said pointing towards the sky.

It seemed the Tonfa-man was only fighting them to try and gather intel on the pirates, but he had gone a little out of control on them. That could go for Mavis too, she had shot down so many. She chuckled nervously.

“Ahh I see.” Mavis nodded.

Mavis couldn’t help but think he was cute in a dorkish way as he stuck his tongue out at her. The man went on to tell her he couldn’t waste too much more time and he was going to fulfil his first goal, he pointed towards the sky. Mavis slightly grinned, she had to assume he was talking about Skypiea.

“Are you talking about going to Skypiea?” Mavis asked, surprised.

Maybe he knew how to get up there and if that was the case maybe he would let her tag along, Mavis wanted to see the city in the skies, it was something to do, on her bucket-list.

“Do you even know how to get there?” Mavis asked.

Before she continued to a barrage of questions she introduced herself. “I’m Mavis Symphony Lockheart.” She smiled, “What about you?”

After learning his name she would ask him, “So what kind of information do you need from the Kipp Pirates? If you don’t mind me asking.” She pondered for a bit, “Do they have someone you love?”

His eyes opened widely, it was refreshing. The girl was refreshing. After being on the island for months, everyone he'd asked about the Sky Islands, Skypeia, she called it, which was new information to him, called him crazy. "Skypeia!" the man lunged upwards, placing his hands on her shoulders. Nodding his head, "You actually believe in a Kingdom in the Sky!?" Junbei said, patting the woman on her shoulder's with great vigour. Junbei had realised how excited he'd gotten, slightly embarrassed, he removed his hands from the woman's shoulder, turning off to the side to blush, "Sorry. Gishishi." the man laughed nervously. "It's just since Charlotte and Izzy, no one hasn't given me such a definite response in believing it's existence." Junbei responded.

"Right! Let me do this right!" Junbei said stepped backwards a few steps, bowing. "My name's Junbei Von Echo" the man exclaimed, now raising from his bow, standing up straight. "I've been researching for the last three months now, exactly how and if it's possible to travel to the city in the Sky, Skypeia, you called it?" Junbei said proudly. "Apparently, the only way up there according to my friend Joe, is riding this geyser called Knock Up Stream." Junbei stated grinning. "And as for Kipp, there's a woman who he has in his crew that is the best Navigator on Jaya and I'm kind of trying to steal her away from his crew. So I guess, looking back on it, I'm the bad-guy in this situation technically." Junbei said grinning.

"But that's fine. Devils can steal things from other devils. The only angel I knew isn't with me anymore." Junbei said smiling, looking at the sky once more but this with a different reason. Scratching his head, Junbei heard the sound of the Sea Train in the distance. The passengers exclaimed a sigh of relief and Junbei smiled, walking over towards his tonfa. Turning back, "I'm glad I met you, Mavis! To know someone else believes in the Sky Islands, it made me really happy." Junbei said shooting a grin at the girl.

Mavis was surprised by his sudden excitement, but it was refreshing, she smiled nodding. This didn’t bother he at all but she’s never seen someone this excited. He went on to tell her about Izzy and Charlotte were the only others to believe him about the kingdom in the sky. Mavis was surprised did people find it a fable? Then again she never asked anyone else about the island she just figured everyone already knew about the island.

“I don’t know why anyone would doubt you, it’s a real island so I’m told. I sort of know a bit about it because of the pirates I traveled with.” Mavis smiled, “They were pretty adventurous, if I was to stay with them for another year they were going to take me to Skypiea.”

Mavis learned his name was Junbei Von Echo. Turns out that Junbei was hunting down the navigator from Kipp’s crew who was the best navigator.

“Ahh so I see, she would be a necessity to get to Skypiea then.” Mavis smiled, “Guess it’d be important to get her then.”

Junbei told her he was glad to meet her she nodded. “Pleasure is all mine.”

Mavis was happy to see the passengers boarding the next sea-train back to Water Seven, they were probably happy they didn’t have to wait and see the situation get dire.

As the Sea Trained docked once more, a platoon of marines came swarming off from Water 7, after the train conductor had reported the incident, strapping his tonfa onto his holster, Junbei turned towards the woman once again. "Hey." Junbei said, thinking about the words he was about to say. As the marines interview the passengers, they began to explain the situation involving Mavis and Junbei. "I'm going to go to Skypeia. Since you've always wanted to go there... I mean, my crew isn't much to scoff at and I'm not the strongest but one day I will be. If you don't mind watching my back just a bit longer, would you like to come to Skypeia with me and Charlotte. With your gun skills, I'll feel much safer. Besides, I got this ship but I ain't ever fired a canon a day in my life." Junbei said rambling. He was bad at outright asking people things. Especially requesting others to follow him, he found incredibly uncomfortable, even as a child.

The marines concluded their initial interviews, a few them began to approach both Mavis and Junbei. "Hey! You kids over there, we got some questions for you!" the marine officer exclaimed, marching in a squadron of four. "What will it be Mavis?" Junbei said, shaking his head shooting the teen a grin. The man extending his hand, if she'd accept his offer, Junbei would dash off at top speeds to escape the marine grunts.

Mavis smiled as he went on to ask her to join her crew and explained how he hadn’t ever fired a cannon, she had some luck with cannons being she traveled with that pirate crew and they had her learn how to use a cannon.

“I’d love to Junbei, also I can teach you and the other crewmates how the Cannons work, they aren’t to hard to function once you get the hang of it.” She giggled.

Mavis went over what she just accepted in her head, had she really accepted being a pirate? After all those years with the Chain Pirates she had never gave them a solid yes to joining and here with this guy she was basically handing over her virginity. Maybe it was something about him? He just reeked of adventure Junbei reminded her of Ty. Which was probably why she said yes, that way she won’t miss out on protecting a friend or miss out on adventure.

“You know you remind me of Ty the captain of the crew I had traveled with, you guys even sound alike when requesting someone to join you on your adventures.” She gave him a warm smile. “But don’t worry I wouldn’t miss out on being apart of such a dashing captain’s crew.”

Turning back at the marines she stuck her tongue out and giggled. She grabbed the man’s hand ready to join him in a life of trouble, besides every angel has to be a devil sometime.

Grabbing onto the woman's hand, Junbei simply grinned and shouted, "Then let's get out of here!" Junbei shouted. Turning his feet into intangible sound, Junbei and Mavis dashed off across the concrete surface of the port, dragging the girl along into usual escapades. As Junbei escaped, the man began to whistle. It was a habit of Junbei, that he'd had since a child. An old pirate's song he'd frequently sing with Isabella, it was almost as everything he did was to fulfil her dream, no their dream. Flashing back once again, as the duo dashed through the gleaming moon's light, crimson tint's laced their body as they frolic in the moon's embrace.

Opening his mouth, Junbei grinned and he began to sing.

"All aboard, the song's been sung.
The story of the fallen ones.
Broken tattered, Cursed Sons.
Who're made to sail the seas.

All abroad, the song's been sung.
The story of the broken ones.
Strong and brave, Poseidon's sons.
Who're made to sail the seas.

Yohoho Yohoho...
Yohoho Yohoho..."

The cheerful song resonated across Mock Town, lifting the woman and himself into the air, the man glided against the sound waves generated by his voice through the air, he was moving fairly fast but not fast enough that everything would be a blur to Mavis.

Mavis felt like she was walking on wind when he had dashed off, holding her hand. Her face had gotten red, however he couldn’t notice because he was busy running. She felt amazing, however this feeling changed when he sang. It wasn’t that he was bad, it was quite the opposite it reminded her of the recordings her father played when Mavis would cry and she could hear her mother sing her to sleep, even if she wasn’t actually there.

-Flashback-
Mavis was about five years of age, and her mother’s angelic tone song of peace and love.

“Don’t expect me to be this soft on you everyday, Mavis.” Her father’s voice was stern. “It’s only because you worked the hardest today, and well you’ve worked the hardest since I made you work.”

Mavis nodded, she knew this wasn’t him being a father it was him planting a seed in her head. This wasn’t him rewarding her it was so he could have leverage over her, whether it be tomorrow or the next day or even years from now. Mavis cried as she listened to her mother’s sweet voice, she always felt like something was missing in her life, it was her mother. Her mother to protect her from having to live this terrible life, her mother to protect her from having to mature at such a young age.

As her father walked away she fell asleep to the voice of her mother singing. The tears would no doubt dry up in her sleep.

-End of Flashback-

It was clear they had escaped, when they began to slow down Mavis saw a restaurant that seemed to be safe to dine at.

“Hey captain can we dine at that place?” Mavis would point to a sign that illuminated a bright red, “Peggy’s Tropical Taste.”

Sure the name didn’t sound the best but it was known for having some of the most exquisite and best food out on the seas.
